I read on the Score that this was effectively part of the Andersen trade. Bernier wasn't included at the time because the Leafs had to pay him a $2 million signing bonus on July 1 (which I presume the Ducks weren't willing to pick up).

I thought the original deal was fine for Anaheim. If true, this is even better.
