It is natural to contemplate what Stamkos thinks now. There is no income tax in Texas, so the deals are truly comparable. Benn is making one million dollars more per season than Stamkos. It is that not the clubs trying offer deal to Stamkos (Toronto, Detroit, Buffalo) actually placed a deal on table to give him more money than one he settled for in Tampa. But to see this must make Stamkos camp think maybe they were too nice in the hours before July 1 in the sense that they had little reason to wait 10-12 months to take the exact same deal Yzerman offered through the entire process. And now a guy with smaller career accomplishment banks much more dollars.
For me it is rational to value relationships with the people one works with, the neighborhood where one lives, and the kids schools and friends. So I like the what Stamkos said when he signed. My only complaint is Stamkos stayed with an organisation and stacked roster superior to Montreal.

I'd have stayed too. Yzerman never undercut Stamkos.

He is making more money than that flashy defenseman in Nashville.
Pretty amazing payday.

Thought he might take something of a Texas discount, but I'm not surprised. Benn's been near the top of league scoring the last few years. He's one of the best forwards in the game. He turned 27 on the weekend, so he's right in his prime.
