He's huge, a beast at fighting (top 3) and he's 24 years old that hasn't developed. Plus he bleeds red white and blue growing up.
6'5", 230.
I don't know what the limitations are in picking him up, but I sure like to see him on a Habs uniform down at the farm. His tollbox lacks high speed processing but otherwise capable as a 6th or a 7th with and a serious mean streak.

The Rags have a very thin defensive corps. If he can't find a way to play everyday there ...

I think if a team picks him up they have to keep him on the big team or offer him back to the Rags. I'm pretty sure he can't be claimed and sent down. Edit: Found this on the netz - "Once a team claims a player from waivers, it may not trade that player unless it first offers him to any other teams who made waiver claims for him. If the claiming team places the player on waivers in the same season and his original team claims him, the team may send the player to the AHL without placing him on waivers again"

In this day and age it's pointless to have a goon. Besides with Shea and Nathan I think we have enough guys willing to fight, the Chris Neil's of this world are a dinosaur, he realizes nobody on our team will fight him, and really if he tries something stupid he'll just put his team shorthanded.

I saw him play in Junior. Limited skill but you keep your head up when facing him. A really big man with a mean streak. A luxury player, imo. Pass.

He was a big and tough dude in the Dub. They were lured by his size. Saw him play a few times against the Oil Kings. He is from the area so always had a big family following at those games. I seemed to always be seated close to his parents!

I agree that you can't have a goon who can't 'play'. You need to be able to roll 4 lines without exposing a weakness. I'd question just how much Weber is willing to fight. He's 31, he's gotten the respect of the league, so it's unlikely he'll fight. Larry Robinson was much the same case (except better). Larry didn't fight much if at all in his later years. No one wanted to and I doubt he did either. Been there, done that. Nathan definitely is willing to drop the gloves but against the tougher guys in the league, he'll get pummeled. Not big enough or strong enough.

I seemed to always be seated close to his parents! Did you think he was a first round pick? It was a stretch. Maybe late round. Some teams put way too much of a premium on size. A guy who grows big fast can often really dominate in juniors because of his physical presence compared to smaller teens. That advantage disappears in the pros. Then the kid has to be able to play hockey without having that huge physical advantage that helped them dominate earlier. Scouts have to project what that player will look like.

Not big enough or strong enough. You may be right, looks like he only drops em once or twice a season, but look at those eyes and I dare anyone to try and give him a go. I'm betting a lot back down. Nathan is one of those guys that has a screw loose, fighting isn't really useful anymore. It doesn't intimidate, and it is usually only fighter vs fighter, the few that are left.

Here's what tsn thought of his selection: I was flabbergasted when Rags took him over Fowler. Not even in tne same league in talent. I thought he would fall to 22nd and we would get him. Got Tinordi instead.....and just as bad. I'm not sure if Dylan has any more growth in him. Something that gets him past the journeyman AHL fodder. Not really far to go to be 7th but a million miles from top 4.

I thought Girardi was well liked by Rangers The team may like him, but his analytics are terrible and his contract is a bad one as well. It may simply be a case of the fans wanting Girardi off the team more than McIlrath.

IIRC, the big knock on Girardi is he can't skate anymore.
