It also looks like college hockey may lose some appeal under this format. Players can't sign pro contracts or they lose their eligibility. And teams may not want to draft them because they now need to signe them before they graduate.
Tom Gorowsky rated #97 among NA skaters comes to mind as someone who falls into this category.
And where does this draft leave a player like Mathieu Roy? He was ranked #104 among NA skaters but I didn't see his name come up. Could player like this be signed and then sent back to junior or do they have to wait and go into the draft next year?

The only thing that changed with NCAAers is that in the past teams had a full year to sign them after they finished school, before the went UFA, now they have only a few months. Gorowsky came out of the USHL I believe a league not heavily scouted from what I understand. He's headed to Wisconsin next year, so if he does well I'd expect him to be drafted in '06. Roy I would invite to the rookie camp in a heartbeat. Yes he can be signed and sent back to juniors. We did it with Michuad and Larrivee. Edit: One thing I want to add is that one player that really sticks out for not being picked on Saturday is Jonathan Matsumoto from Bowling Green. Not the biggest guy but very skilled offensively as he can dish out the puck, works hard and is a smart player with good wheels.
