Went to the Nepean Cenotaph today lots of people showed up which is really nice. It should be a national holiday imo.

In a sense yes some people will use it as a christmas shopping day... government and bank employees certainly do. In ottawa that is almost 50% of the workforce.

Seen the service in my neighbourhood grow each year ... it was a small cenotaph in the middle of the neighbourhood that used to have about 30-40 people, if that ... now teachers take their classes there and there are probably a few hundred people every year ... it's unusual to find a veteran that hasn't been to Afghanistan nowadays ... they take the dirty work off our hands and, IMO, we owe them and those quickly-fading WW II veterans, a lot ...
Cheers.
