It remainds me the Horton pick (number 3 in 2003). A very strong forward who wasn't a concensus top pick.

Burke sounded like he was already enjoying his "5th". Nonetheless he got what he wanted.

Does this mean Johnson may fall back to us? Burke was impressed with Ryan's interview and mentioned his scouting staff advised Ryan.

So, Pouliot, Jonshon, Brule and Kopitar.
Kopitar isn`t a great skater...
Johnson might gone before the 5th...
I have a feeling it`s going to be Brule or someone else instead of Pouliot... Brule is ultra competitive and motivated... Pouliot had a problem with work ethics before...

I'll be peeved if we take Staal. We haven't had a top 5 pick in ages and Staal's upside is limited.

Really a surprising pick, especially with the UFA age going down. I don't understand the move but we will have to wait to understand the move.

Very disappointing. We have Theodore...Danis could be a #1 NHL goalie in a few years...we've never had a top-5 pick in over two decades. I'm pi#@&d!!!

Not a popular choice, for sure. In hindsight, goaltending is a problem depth position. As Gainey said, Halak may be signed, but no mention of Heino-Lindbergh, so if you include Danis, that's 3 goalies who could be your #1 and two of them have yet to prove themselves at the NHL level. I've excluded Huet, who probably doesn't have #1 ability. I guess once Johnson was gone, they just weren't infatuated with the remaining top group. Price is from Anahim Lake? Yeesh. That's miles toward the coast from Williams Lake, the closest town, which is in the BC Interior. Big kid, but I wasn't impressed at all with his world under 18 performance. He seems to have good character, but I don't think he played well enough in that final against the US. And that was one of his better games. Rats, with a goalie, it'll take 5 years to figure out if it was a good choice or not.
