Looks like he didn't learn anything from his fine last week (LOL).
For someone who wants to shed his "rat" image, he's not doing himself any favours.

In his last 3 games: the slew foot that got him fined, a brutal cross check to the back of the head of a Penguins player on the ice at the bottom of a scrum that should have been a major, and this.
He's the modern day Ken Linseman. Sucker you from behind, and then run for cover. I'm not a vengeful person by nature, despite there being an instance or two where it might have been warranted. Despite that, when I see this snake pull his act time and time again, were I a player I would gladly take a year long suspension if it meant he never played again.

Marchand also had an embellishment call rescinded. Marc Dumont argued that the call was questionable to begin with, but I've never seen that done with any other player. The league really is giving him a carte blanche for these things.
Funny thing is, nobody goes after Marchand either. Don't know why that is, but you can expect the B's brass to get up in arms if and when it does happen.

Wonder if Cherry will play this highlight reel....other than to illustrate tough Bruin hockey, that is.....

Makes my blood boil. Absolutely hate that he's from the same city as me.

he plays "on the edge". he knows it, everyone in the NHL knows it. he's even said that he needs to be more careful. but why should he, when the non-safety committee closes its eyes to what he does? if he were given a long suspension (since the fines are so mickey-mouse) he might change his toon tune, but as long as there is no penalty he'll go on as he has been.

He plays over the edge afaic. You're right though, why stop if the league won't do anything. The NFL may have more than it's fair share of problems and things I disagree with, but were he an NFL player he'd have earned himself a year long suspension by now (after several fines that exceed way more than $10k).

Last year, Marchand was suspended for 3 games for that clip on Borowiecki. I was listening to a program yesterday and they brought up a good point. All the fines that Marchand gets doesn't hurt him or the team one bit. It is not a deterrent. But that suspension last year quite possibly cost the Bruins a playoff spot. During his three game suspension, the Bruins lost to Montreal and Washington (they went 1-2). They were tied for the last playoff spot, but did not get in the playoffs based on regulation wins. The Washington game, in particular, was 3-2. Just one point in those 2 games and they make the playoffs.

His $4.5 million salary over 180 days works out to $25k a day. That three game suspension cost him $150k however, and of course the playoffs. That stings the player and the team a heck of a lot more.

Anyone know how Bruins fans feel about his antics ... Cheers. Given fan reaction on the slew foot of McDonagh, they seem more than fine with it.
