I don't know anything about this guy. Pulling the topic from hf. No one has jumped up and said he's not a recognized source. No one has compared him to Eklund or Adrian Dater.
It would seem like their odd bed fellows. Tampa has significant cap issues. They have a number of good young players needing contracts. Some have suggested it could be a Plekanec for Filppula and Boyle. "Flip" has another year left at $5 million. Similar player to Plekanec. Could be third line center. He's got a NMC/NTC that would have to be worked out. Boyle is a UFA.
The thinking from the Bolts' perspective is that Plekanec doesn't have any clauses and can be exposed. They'd be gambling that Vegas takes him, or they could incentivize Vegas to.
I don't know how I feel about merely shedding $1 million in salary for our third line center - even if Flip hasn't gone in the tank like Tomas has. If they could work out a slightly larger deal where Johnson was the center coming back, I'd be more interested. Tyler's having a modest rebound from a really tough 15-16 season.

I can't see Tampa taking on more salary than they give up. Maybe if Habs retain some of PLeks' salary. I'd certainly swap Pleks for Filpulla but I think we'd have to sweeten that deal.

Hard to say. Tampa's salary cap bind can be helped with the trade. Flip is less likely to waive for Vegas. As a club that hasn't played a game yet, they certainly aren't on his list of 16 teams. Montreal might be. Trading him to a team in the hunt gives them a player (in this hypothetical situation), they can actually expose.

Filosa is a member of the Montreal media, on French radio mostly. He also appears often on the City TV Montreal sports panel in English. He is a knowledgeable journalist and IMHO, in no way a rumour monger. I also believe that he is nowhere near as connected as a McKenzie or Dreger either. |

I'd like to see the Habs get bigger. 3rd season in a row we started good and kept wearing down. Last season everybody thought it was because losing Carey Price but same thing this year, so it was not losing him. |
