Ward looked good on the list too. Big, can score (led the AHL in scoring) They all look good in our dreams. Reality is the best guys on that list were very average in the AHL season and playoffs.
I believe Gainey is dropping the average salary to create cap room and he will be in a better position than other GM's to add proven performers from other teams.
The next few weeks will be interesting and like nothing we've ever seen before.

The defense is pretty weak.

The defense is indeed very thin.

Great depth in net, a nice mix of different types of centremen, a great crop of RW's, a decent group of LW, some potential in stay at home guys on D (not overly deep as many have pointed out), but a real lack of puck movers and PP QB's on the blueline.

I didn't know where else to put this and i didn't want to open a new thread for it so here it is: in a friendly match between Dynamo Minsk and Team Belarus, played on July 31st, Andrei Kostitsyn assisted on the first 2 goals for the national team. they eventually won the game 3-2. --source--R.

it seems that Mikhail Grabovsky scored for his new team Dynamo Moscow against HIFK (FIN) at the tournament in Oulu (Finland). he didn't have any pts in games against Lulea (SWE) and host Karpat.
tournament's final standings
1. Dynamo 2. Lulea 3. Karpat 4. HIFK
