I wonder if Bishop is damaged goods at this point. Dallas really needs a goaltender, but I don't think Ben can help them much.

I'm assuming that Niemi is the goalie that will be bought out. Lehtonen can split duty for the next year. It's a gamble, but one they needed to take. |

He will be 31 just after the season starts and playing for his 5th NHL team. He's had flashes but seems injured too often now to really help any team that much. Pretty low price tag.

The bigger question is, "what will he ask for a contract? Before Nill deals with one of his goalie contracts, he could be investing $16MM in that positions (current contracts are $10.4MM)

That is an awesome deal for the stars. Roughly 4.9 million a year for 6 years. Perfect deal for a thirty old goaltender, who can be one of the bests when he is on.
