On another board, a poster is saying that according to Louis Jean, Bergevin has offered Lefebvre an extension to coach the Rocket. If true, do we need any more proof of Bergevin's incompetence?

Jean is credible. www.tvasports.ca/2017/05/19/sylvain-lefebvre-sera-t-il-de-retourTranslation from Google: "While several teams have made significant changes at all levels within their organization, the Montreal Canadiens advocate continuity. According to what TVA Sports has learned, Sylvain Lefebvre was offered an extension of contract on behalf of general manager Marc Bergevin. In five seasons as head coach of the Habs club, Lefebvre guided the St. John's Icecaps to a playoff game. He remains the man of confidence of the CH. According to TVA Sports, the former 49-year-old defender would prefer to wait before confirming his return behind the bench of the American affiliate of the club since he would like to return to the National Hockey League as a deputy . A completely commendable situation. It should be noted, however, that Lefebvre's current contract will expire on June 30th. Canadians are eager to have Lefebvre remain with the organization, but if another team wants to talk to her, she will have to ask Bergevin for permission. An assistant with the Panthers? One of the reasons why the Florida Panthers have not yet appointed a replacement to Tom Rowe is that they wish to speak to some people who still work. One of these is Phil Housley, who is currently employed by the Nashville Predators. If Housley were to get the position of head coach, chances are that Lefebvre will be part of the coaching team. The two have never played together, but they know each other and share the same agent. Speaking of the Panthers, as I have been told, Michel Therrien did very well in an interview. If the Panthers opt for the experience, Therrien may have the job, but there's a catch: Therrien will pocket two million dollars next season. Florida is a small budget team that in the past was not prepared to pay this kind of salary for a coach. If you want to attract Therrien, the Panthers could give him a salary of less than $ 1 million in the first year (the difference will be paid by the Canadians), but you will have to untie the purse strings later. A major obstacle?"

I don't know what's funnier...
Bergevin offering a 5-year losing AHL head coach an extension...
or
Lefebvre putting Bergevin on hold because he thinks he's earned an NHL assistant spot...i.e. one step closer to NHL head coach.

That is indeed hilarious. Kinda of like a businessman losing billions of dollars for his investors and then running for President. Silly, huh?
