There's gonna be a bunch come out today. McKenzie's been tweeting a lot.
Two he knows are:
1. VGK will take Stoner from Anaheim instead of picking Manson or Vatanen. The cost will be that the Ducks also send Shea Theodore.
2. A pick of some kind is definitely going to VGK to guarantee they take MAF from the Pens. He doesn't know the pick yet.

Looks like Tampa sent the rights to Gusev and Garrison to Vegas to aboid picking some of their players on defence. If Vegas signs Dadonov, then they will have the complete line of Gusev, Ship, and Dandoov of the KHL and national Russian team.

McPhee is getting lots of applause for the way he's handling this expansion. I just wonder about one thing. If he plans to be competitive next year (which may be a necessity), I think he's making a major mistake. He's going to have a very solid team....one in fact which can compete for a playoff spot. Just good enough, therefore, to be in that no-man's land where you're good enough but not good enough. Especially since there are some franchise guys available next year, Dahlen and Svecnhikov. I'd kill to have the first choice next year. Dahlen is another Karlsson. Franchise players are available next year. He should be targeting guys who are too young to contribute next year, but will get some needed experience, finish near the bottom and hope for the bingo balls to fall for them. He might be doing that, depending on how many guys he keeps. Looks like Fleury is a keeper, though and it will be tough to finish badly with him in net.

I haven't been following his actions very much, but if I were him my main focus would be on stacking up with as many first rounds picks as possible next year, especially from the teams that he projects as non-playoff teams. I think that's his best bet to pick top 2 next draft. Not that I wouldn't try to tank as well... but a good tank job needs the stars to align.

Kind of surprised to see Alex Tuch on the move ... might make a good 3rd-line checking centre ... kind of like Frederick Gauthier in Toronto ... losing Marc Methot will hurt Ottawa ... they'll have to find another rearguard to cover Erik Karlsson's butt ... if he stays in Vegas I suspect he'll wear a letter ... not sure, just a hunch ... Cheers.

McPhee's job was made a lot easier with there only being one expansion team ... Usually it's two, and then harder to wheel and deal

Why does the nhl picks unknowns to play at the awards shows And then they have a Pens fan host the show?

Why does the nhl picks unknowns to play at the awards shows And then they have a Pens fan host the show? Joe Manganiello might be a b-lister, but he's pretty well known. Done movies and TV. He's from Pittsburgh, and apparently a fan of all the teams from there. Still, it's typical NHL. Very unoriginal. Hell, Joe is more known than the bloody Arkells. I hate that they're stringing along the draft.

First 9 picks, officially are:
Pickard(col) Sbisa(Van) Polkanen(Arz) Merrill(NJD) Carrier(Buff) late pick went with him [to avoid taking someone else] Eakin(Dal) Nosek(Det) Marchessault(Fla)
Acquire Reilly Smith and a 4th in 2018 from Panthers
McNabb(LAK)

Essentially, Fla gives up Marchessault AND a 4th in 18 to get rid of Smith's contract.

How many years were remaining on that contract? More than one, I assume.

Brickley(Car) Jets trade 17 5th rounder (likely to keep Enstrom) Thorburn(Jets) ... and a first as well. Likely a trade down scenario. Bellemare(Phi) Garrison(Tbay) Acquire Gusev, 2nd this year and 4th next year from Tampa. Bolts fans very high on the Russian. Were hoping to get him over. Berube(NYI) acquire Grabovsky, Bischoff, and a couple of picks (to take Grabo contract) Neal(Nas)

Keep in mind 2 things. They have to pick 30. 10 of those roster spots are going to be bound for the minors. There's a significant chance that some of the names they call tonight will be traded as early as tomorrow.
