McPhee is getting lots of applause for the way he's handling this expansion. I just wonder about one thing. If he plans to be competitive next year (which may be a necessity), I think he's making a major mistake. He's going to have a very solid team....one in fact which can compete for a playoff spot. Just good enough, therefore, to be in that no-man's land where you're good enough but not good enough. Especially since there are some franchise guys available next year, Dahlen and Svecnhikov. I'd kill to have the first choice next year. Dahlen is another Karlsson. Franchise players are available next year. He should be targeting guys who are too young to contribute next year, but will get some needed experience, finish near the bottom and hope for the bingo balls to fall for them. He might be doing that, depending on how many guys he keeps. Looks like Fleury is a keeper, though and it will be tough to finish badly with him in net. McPhee's job was made a lot easier with there only being one expansion team ... Usually it's two, and then harder to wheel and deal It actually looks like his team isn't that great and he may move a few more pieces tomorrow. So he may be doing it 'right'.

That's not that great a lineup. It's phase one. We won't really have a sense of the true make up until July 1.

That's not that great a lineup. I wonder how he would have done if he just picked the best guys available and then made trades after that for draft choices. Maybe it would have turned out much the same.

5 mill cap hit, last year of contract and has a modified NTC of 8 teams. Can't see Bergy trying to get a guy like that.. Could have traded Beau for him though 😁 Patches Galchy galley drouin Neal radulov... pretty darn good top 6.

If we were going to lose Beau, then go after the most value you can get, not a third rounder with a 25% of making it in the NHL. But then, who could possibly be smarter then BargainBin.......
