In his latest column t RDS.ca , Pedneault talks about Carbonneau scouting the Caps. Carbonneau was at the game last night.
The he dropped one line about Rivet's name being mentioned in trade talks. That's it. Nothing more. If true, we're not talking Eastwood here (worth a late round pick) but something close to being a major deal.
Any toughness taken from the blue line will hurt this team. It better be for a power forward.
Edit:
I also found this from Stevenson (Ottawa Sun):
If the Senators are looking around for a defenceman, one guy who might wind up on their radar screen is Canadiens blueliner Craig Rivet. He's become a bit of a whipping boy here, but he could be a good fifth defenceman on a few teams. What's prohibitive is his salary (a couple of years to go at about $3 million per). He'll only be available if the Habs aren't playoff-bound, but they helped their chances immensely last night.
If that's where Pedneault got this rumor, then it's totally unprofessional for him to drop a one-liner like that...

Getting rid of Rivet is a step in the right direction. The guy is overpaid and has one good game every 5 just to make people think he's worth anything.

Rivet might be overpaid but he wears his heart on his sleeve and shows up to play every night. True he makes mistakes, but there are lot of defensemen in the league that contribute a lot less.

Only unrepentant Pedneaultphiles would believe him.
