Great deal for the club, I coincide.
Maybe it is the tax factor and/or maybe Yzerman is good at convincing key guys that Lightning are nicely positioned to win. To sign a good 2C with clutch playoff pedigree for 5 AAV is good business when you figure he finishes the deal a year younger than Plekanec is right now and Yzerman is buying a bunch of UFA years at a reasonable rate.
