Had to laugh before the Chi game with all the talking heads going on about how it's too early for Habs fans to "panic" and that CJ is being patient with his lines to give them a chance to gel to start the season. Ha!
So much for the patience. CJ is in full on juggling mode to see if any of the clowns MB has assembled can find the back of the net.
"Panic" is defined as a sudden overwhelming fear which may lead one to an irrational conclusion. Those who want change on the Habs are not in panic mode. We have come to this conclusion after considerable assessment and knowing sometime ago that the crew MB assembled is sub-standard. We have not suddenly been struck by our worst fear which often causes panic. We have seen it coming for some time, and now we are in the "we told you so" mode. And we want to see change.

Toronto hasn't won a game against the Habs in awhile.
Saturday will change that.

The one thing that isn't changing are those centres. Anyone else feel confident going into a game with that lineup down the middle? (yes sarcasm galore)

My real worry is what will a desperate MB give up to get the guy. I'm thinking either Max or Chucky, a propsect (Scherbak), plus a first rounder may be put on the table.

Duchene would help the situation down the middle. But if I am the President of the franchise my posture would be no trades mortgaging the future (first rounders, Mete, Poehling) until the team Bergevin assembled actually proves it can position itself for the playoffs.

I don't understand why people are willing to give up so much for a guy who's legitimately had questions about his own ability to play center, is mired in a very public situation that's anything but positive, and has played worse than Galchenyuk for 2 years.

I don't want Duchene because of what MBHead will give for him. It could make our talent pipeline look like waaaay worse than it already is.

Chucky questionable for the game due to flu-like symptoms. Missed practice. Open the floodgates lol.
Schemlko being sent down to Laval on a conditioning stint, so won't play tomorrow but must be a lot closer.

What's the over under for Montreal scoring 2 goals?

What's the over under for Montreal scoring 2 goals? I don't have RDS and can't stomach the English leafs broadcast... if I watch it it'll be on mute and tsn690.

We only get on CBC nationally a few times a year, almost only when we play the Leafs. This will be a full-on Leafs love-in and Habs bashing party. However, tonight that may be well warranted if the early season trends continue.
14 game winning streak is in serious jeopardy.
Should be a blast for young Mete, being a southern Ontario kid, playing the Leafs.
Carey, can you steal us one tonight as I do not like losing to the Leafs?

I wonder what Berkshire's definition of a scoring team is ... He seems to think a 15th ranked offense is ok. So should we be happy with a 15th ranked offense, because, well, 15 teams are worse, so why should we complain. I'd remind Berkshire that our 15th ranked offense, ranked 9th in the East. Is that cause for concern? Not even top 8? I'd also remind Berkshire that his synopsis includes OT and shootout goals ... Of which Montreal scored 14. You eliminate all those goals from every team (because they don't play 3 on 3 or use shootouts in the playoffs, where our scoring really dries up) and then our 15th ranked offense drops to 20th. Still think the offense is ok for a playoff run Andrew?

I don't think he was setting 15th as a goal for the Habs, Skilly. He's assuming that given their scoring abilities and their (lack of) transitional defence, they should achieve about average for the sum of save % and shooting %, or about 15th in the league. I'd agree with that. In fact, I think you agree with that or perhaps may be more pessimistic. What I got out of the article was that in 2015/16, their PDO was unsustainably high to start the season (with their bottom 6 scoring at ridiculously high percentages) and this season so far, it's unsustainably low. At some point those pucks shot at the net will hit 6 guys and go in instead of staying out. That is inevitable unless the hockey gods really hate MB and CJ. That's all I took from the article.

I'm not going to start a new thread for this, but David Schlemko has been recalled from Laval, so he will undoubtedly be in the line-up tonight against the Leafs. What I get from this move is that either Julien or Bergevin are desperate. I'm not sure what to think of Schlemko, but I think it's a stretch to expect him to help after one minor league game. From what I've read of the reports from last night's game, Schlemko played a responsible game, didn't stand out either good or bad, but conditioning was something that was brought up. I'd have given him one more game in Laval, because it's one thing to go up against the Binghampton Devils and another to take on the Leafs.
Having said that, I wonder who sits?

The article is about luck, or PDO, which as my signature shows I don't believe in. But he takes direct aim at suggesting 15th is a comfortable bar to set for scoring goals ...why else would he state ... My definition of a "scoring team" is not based on the average, which is exactly what they were last year when they score more goals than they have in recent years. A true scoring team is above average, top 10 preferably. Which is why this team needs forwards more than defense, cause even when they over-achieve they are merely average.

Just for the record Subban has 6 points in 4 games.....and we are debating....Schlemko. BargainBin is moving from mediocre to epic failure. In 3 years he took a up and coming elite defense into the NHL joke. BTW...1-3, how is that Weber leadership going?

This is the best takeaway line.....we have depth to compensate for the lack of horses. So how many bottom 6 defensman does it take to balance one elite defensman? 5? 10? 30? Because this is EXACTLY the BargainBin mentality that has brought us here.

BTW...1-3, how is that Weber leadership going? That's what it was all about, right? Who needs PK's puck carrying ability, passing skills, puck retrieval skills, and all around intensity on every shift? What we needed was a solid stay at home defender with mediocre puck skills, a big shot, but GREAT leadership. Besides, the forwards are supposed to be the ones to drive the offense. Can't have a guy like PK making too many plays on the ice. It makes the other guys look bad. Don't worry Cranky. Weber's leadership will more than make up for the deficiencies on the back end. Otherwise why would Berg have traded for him?

In two decades, the Habs management has done the impossible. They have taken a fan that has seen MOST of their cups and celebrated all those parades in his lifetime and turning him into a a frustrated, cynical doubter. And I'm not the only one.....

I hope CJ/Muller can figure something out because I don't trust this management team to fix this.

I'll be watching this game out of curiosity more than anything (if that's not a weird thing to say). For one, I want to see if the forwards will find ways to get goals, though it's possible that they'll be hemmed in their own end most of the game.

Hrudey comes to Galchenyuk's defense. Says he should go back to centre. He compared him to Kadri actually. The Leafs have challenged him by asking him to be a match up centre. He contrasted that to the role of a shutdown centre. Kadri's numbers went up a great deal afterwards.

Christine Simpson asks about the pressure of being a French Canadian playing in Montreal.. . I wonder if she asks English players if they feel the pressure of playing in torranna??
