Looking like a potential mutual contract termination coming, unless GMGM plays hardball.

Could put in a claim, nyet? I don't know how that works with unconditional waivers. I think at this point his focus is on the Olympics.

Could put in a claim, nyet? Why? If he's a headcase for the Vegas, he's not going to be much more for us.

I'm just grateful TSN can move on from all of this ... I don't know what Shipachyov has done to warrant so much media attention but I'm already tired of it ... kind of reminds me of the hype over Jiri Sekac and Fabian Brunnström ... got tired of the hype swirling around them, too ...
Cheers.

VGK have given Vadim and his agent the permission to contact teams around the league to see if they'd be interested. GMGM will then attempt to work out a return. What happened to him in LV? Another Sekac?

Another Sekac? He's a much better player than Jiri. His contract allowed the Knights to put him in the minors until they cleared players with contracts that weren't waiver exempt. GMGM was dragging his heels. Ship got 3 games in with VGK and scored a goal. He gave up the Olympics to play in the NHL, not the AHL. GMGM told his agent to go find a team to deal with. They did, apparently. What transpired is murky, but GMGM was unable to find a deal to his liking. The second year likely scared some. I imagine some teams wanted him to retain salary. Ship went AWOL from the Wolves. He could sign with another NHL team, but my guess is he goes back to the KHL and plays in the Olympics.

Apparently GMGM may drag his heels on filing the waiver for contract termination. VGK doesn't want a scenario where they terminate and he just signs a deal with another club. If he hits the open market, Berg may change his tune. If he doesn't, it reeks of a petulant child saying 'you didn't want us the first time, no chance this time."

Vadim Shipachyov retired from the NHL today.
Bet he wishes he could go back in time and choose a different team ... I stil don't understand why GM took this stance.

I don't know if any other VGK players are represented by Svoboda, but you can bet he won't be shopping them to GMGM any time soon.

SKA has played 31 games to date. Typical season is 60 games. Is the 500k based on a whole season, the way the NHL values it's contracts, or is it 500k for half a season? Ship returned all bout 100k of his $2 million signing bonus. I don't know what he made in the KHL last year. It was likely the equivalent of a few million dollars (tax free).
