Near gulf coast of Florida, where he resides. He was an avid pilot, which he got from his Father.

Only 40. HalladayIronically... In May, Jon Karkow, Icon's chief test pilot who was responsible for the plane's design, died in a crash in California. Cagri Sever, a new employee who was in the passenger's seat, also was killed.

There's a phone video of Halladay performing a few stunt-like dives, pulling up very close to the water...then...
On the radio today, I heard a pilot say that they do practice "touch-and-go" to perfect their landings...but not like that.

Sounds like he was hot dogging it for the past week doing those kind of fly bys. Reminds me of the people you drive at 180 km on the highway. All it takes is one time for you to become the bug on the windshield.

Apparently, his wife begged him to not buy that kind of plane.
Can serious injury/death resulting from HIGH-risk, recreational thrill-seeking be considered a tragedy?
Widow and fatherless children....
Those idiots on the highways....they also endanger the lives of others....
I've coined a few new words on my home-Toronto commute over the past 20 years....

Regardless what happened, Roy Halladay didn't deserve to be singled out the way he was by Michael Felger ... can you imagine the Halladay family reading/hearing what this putz blurted ... to report that Halladay had been hot-dogging in the air is all well and fine, but it sounded to me that Felger was hot-dogging, himself, when blurted his opinion over the air ... he's already apologizing for his tirade but he's lost a lot of credibility to this point ... probably not the legacy he wants when his time comes ... RIP Roy ... I'm sorry all of this happened to you ...
Cheers.

Agree, Dis. It's one thing to question Halladay's judgment....but quite another to say he deserved what he got.
Felger is known for his outrageous opinions...it's either his shtick, or his real personality.
Both are steeped in heartlessness.
