Two good GM's shore up weaknesses on their teams by moving people where they have depth, for areas where they don't. Kinda makes sense. There are other parts to the trade but those are the main ones. Which still has me thinking that the Habs and Oilers should work something out. RNH and Max forming the main parts. We gain, they gain. Two teams in trouble with a win-win deal for both.

I'd rather have Vatanen than Henrique, which is why the Devils had to add. Henrique will slot in nicely after Getzlaf and Kesler.

Yup, and there are other pieces of course. Vatanen gives NJ that right handed PMD they needed. With Zajac, Boyle, Hischier's development and Pavel Zacha improving, the Devils were deep at the centre spot. With Butcher and Vatanen they're well set with transition. Shero is a great GM. Wish we had him.
