Given all the angst on the forum these days (and years) just thought I'd throw this out there. It was on this date (April 10) in 1956 that the Habs began what was probably the most impressive run in any sport as they defeated the Detroit Red Wings 3-1 to win the first of five consecutive Stanley Cups. Over the 24 seasons from 1955-56 through 1978-79 the Habs won 15 Stanley Cups. This is why Habs' fans (at least those old timers amongst us such as yours truly) are so demanding of excellence each and every season. Unfortunately we'll never again come close to those teams of the 50's, 60's and 70's (nor will any other team). 1955-56 Montreal Canadiens
