Larrivee, Goldie make All- Star team By Dave Werstine, Staff writer Despite an up-and-down season that has seen them float around .500, the Ice Dogs were good enough to land two spots on the National Conference All-Star team. The ECHL announced Saturday that forwards Christian Larrivee and Ash Goldie will represent Long Beach in the annual All-Star Game on Jan. 24 at the Save Mart Center in Fresno. It's the second straight year that the Ice Dogs have placed two players on the All-Star team. Last year, forward Marco Rosa and goalie Chris Madden made the team. Larrivee, the Ice Dogs' leading scorer with 12 goals and 19 assists in his third pro season and second in Long Beach, is also among the top 25 scorers in the league, proving he is more than just a player on the checking line. For Larrivee, who combined for just 65 points in his first two years, being named an All-Star should help him recirculate his name as an NHL prospect. www.presstelegram.com/sports/ci_3361099

I was a little surprised that the Habs did not sign him to a minor league contract as he was pretty decent in Long Beach last season, obviously enough that Coach Cameron offered up an ECHL contract to keep with organization. It is nice to see him leading the team in scoring and getting the call to the All Star game, he has played well in the limited games I have been able to catch this past year. With a wave of talented young forwards all likely fighting for spots in Hamilton next season (Chipchura, Aubin, D'Agostini, Greg Stewart and hopefully a guy like Grabovski), forward spots in Hamilton will not be easy to come by. Who knows, with his performance this season, Larrivee may get another look in the Dogs camp next fall.

At the end of last season coach Cameron said in a interview that Larrivee was one of the teams MVP's but didn't get enough credit for the job he did. I saw a ton of Long Beach games and was impressed with the improvement in his physical game and how he was doing all the little things right. I was surprised he didn't get a contract, I thought he would be a good depth guy for Hamilton, to play on the 3rd or 4th line. I hope he gets a chance with some AHL team next year.
Ash Goldie is a guy I would look at inviting to camp next year, he's small but works hard and has decent offensive skills or did at Michigan St, haven't seen any Ice Dogs games yet although I've listened to a number on the radio. Ulanski would also be a good guy to invite imo, but I'd rather have his teammate at Denver, Gabe Gauthier signed.

Larrivee was one of three Ice Dogs who played in tonight's ECHL all-star game. He scored a goal and looked pretty decent. He might get a look at the Ham Dogs camp next season if he keeps this up. He is still leading the Ice Dogs in scoring, so his good season continues up to the all-star break.
