His first interview with the Wild was actually while the Preds were still in the playoffs iirc. He went back for a second interview in the last week.

Fenton was definitely a guy people were forecasting to be ascend to the GM. It seems like a good hire for the Wild. Minnesota is nice hockey market and the core they have is pretty solid too.
Without a doubt, ownership clearly wants to win and Fenton will feel to pressure from day one to make the Wild more lethal in the playoffs because their core has never quite been up to the task and now guys like Koivu, Parise, Suter, Staal, and Dubnyk are quite mature in the career life cycle. Plus, while they have a bit of cap space, Dumba and Zucker are going to eat up most of that. Last, they play in scary difficult division.
Minnesota and Montreal are often linked in trade rumours. I pray to God that Bergevin does not trade Pacioretty for Coyle or Galchenyuk for Zucker. If Craig Leipold is as desperate to win as he sounds, then he can suggest to Fenton that he send Montreal Eriksson Ek or Kunin and a second rounder if Minnesota really likes the sound of adding 30+ goals with Pacioretty.
