I guess Ottawa can turn the page on Mike Hoffman ... not sure how Mikkel Boedker will make out, or if Julius Bergman will make the NHL (another Rinat Valiev?), but I think Hoffman might just light it up in SJ ... where does this put Montreal if they want to trade Max Pacioretty ...

Hoffman has denied wrongdoing but the harassment allegations have certainly affected his value. An argument could be made that Ottawa got less for Hoffman than San Jose did. Boedkker was the main piece going to Ottawa. |

Hoffman has denied wrongdoing but the harassment allegations have certainly affected his value. This case reminds a little of the Bryan Colangelo situation with the Sixers in Philly. Someone was using an anonymous twitter account too knpw bash Philly players & the rumor was it was Colangelo. It turned out to be his wife but Colangelo was forced to resign anyway. Who knows? Maybe someone did hijack a social media account. |

I know there's no proof yet, but from the comments made by other Sens and their wives I'd put a lot of money on their being true. Someone who went to high school with her also said they aren't surprised. She sounds like a bitter, evil person. She'll find another target on the Panthers. Some people (Trump) are just like that. |

Bob Gainey got a 1st-round pick (#22- Max Pacioretty) and Josh Gorges for him and, Rivet could leave the rink in shorts if he wanted to ... Cheers. |

San Jose was very astute in their dealings here. Even forgetting about Tavares for a moment (signs point to him staying with Islanders), Wilson needed to open up cap space to sign Hertl long-term, bridge Tierney and DeMelo, and give Joe Thornton one more year. Ridding the club of Boedker is certainly helpful in that regard and to pick up quite a few picks in the process is nice day's work.
Florida picks up a 25 goal winger for a 2nd, 4th, and 5th, which is cheap. Of course, Hoffman is not known as a team first guy and now with the whole situation with his girlfriend, Dale Tallon is taking a risk.
What can anyone say about Ottawa at this point? Dorion was dealing from a position of weakness, granted; but even so the return is really poor. And to top it all off, even with Hoffman gone, Karlsson may still want to escape from Ottawa.
