Five years, $5.5 AAV. He scored almost a ppg after being traded to the Lightning but before that he was a 20 goal scorer, not a 40 goal scorer and 50 points a year. That's worth over $5MM now? If there's a weakness to Yzerman's game, contracts could be it.

I think Miller has no trade protection this season, so it would not be a shocker if he moves when Yzerman tries to grab Karlsson.

Regarding the contract, it is a bit rich but Tampa is buying three UFA years. Miller is not a big difference maker by any means though he has three 20-25 goal seasons and two 55-59 point seasons. Bergevin handed Drouin 6 years/$32.5 million dollar deal without him having yet hit 100 points in his NHL career.
