It didn't take long after Hairless Lou Lamoriello was turfed in TO for Matthews to grow a beard and moustache. Take that Lou.

Doubt anyone there is missing Lamoriello too much.

Maybe Tavares left the Isles because he wanted to grow a beard.

I've never had a beard or moustache and likely never will, but I'd be so pissed off if someone 'mandated' that I couldn't grow one if I wanted. It's such an incredibly stupid, outdated attitude and speaks far more toward control than toward any hockey related issue. For my money, Lamoriello can go slide down a barbed wire fence. He's a dinosaur and the Isles are likely going to get worse than they even were under Snow (who seemed to have learned something and was making some good moves). I read somewhere that Tavares was far more likely to re-sign with the Isles before ownership moved out Snow. No idea how connected the writer was, but I wouldn't be surprised. As I said, Snow was making some good moves and some good trades. Now Lamoriello brings in Matt Martin.

I think that you are right, seventeen, about Snow making better moves near the end but those first six or seven seasons were tough and perceptions tend to stick. Plus, even until the end his coaching hires were pretty terrible.
I had also heard that about Tavares being pretty close to Snow and very close to Doug Weight.
A good friend of mine from school works for Procter & Gamble and until a few years ago they had a long standing no facial hair policy. Guys are still forbade from having even longish hair (jeje, not even a decent hockey mullet is welcome).

Oh please, you didn't object to mandated manscaping when GQ came calling.....
