From the Athletic:
Sources: Martin Brodeur is leaving the Blues — is return to New Jersey imminent?
After four years in St. Louis — a stay that still seems unfathomable — Martin Brodeur is leaving the Blues’ organization, multiple sources confirmed to The Athletic.
Brodeur played seven games with the Blues, capping a 22-year illustrious career that will land him in the Hockey Hall of Fame in November. He’s spent the past three years as an assistant general manager under Doug Armstrong, but Brodeur’s contract expired in June and the 46-year-old decided to move on.
Brodeur’s next stop apparently isn’t finalized yet, but it’s long been believed that, whenever his time in St. Louis ended, he would be interested in returning to the New Jersey Devils, where he won three Stanley Cups and four Vezina trophies.
It’s been a busy year for Brodeur, who was the co-GM of Team Canada at the 2018 World Championships in May, and it will continue to be hectic with the events leading up to his Hockey Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Nov. 12.
When asked in June about being mentioned as a candidate for other GM jobs, Brodeur said he was actually looking to scale back his responsibilities.

When asked in June about being mentioned as a candidate for other GM jobs, Brodeur said he was actually looking to scale back his responsibilities.
“It’s always nice to hear your name, but it’s something I’m not really looking forward to move on to take bigger roles,” Brodeur said at the time. “Just being on the sidelines is good for me for now. I’ve got an 8-year-old (Max) at home, so I’ve got to spend a little time with him.”
So, he's looking to scale back. That would take him out of any Habs job....if he's telling the truth. I certainly hope so...wouldn't be that keen on a GM whose initial statements are less than honest. But we've heard that from many politicians...right? "I'm resigning because I want to spend more time with my family" And then not long after they're right back in and the resignation was an obvious power play.
I don't think Brodeur is like that.
