I'm feeling embarrassed by the some of the yokels at the draft, first booing the St. Louis rep and then booing the Habs when they announced first in French. Damn right it should be in French first. What's with them, the morons?
We drafted David Fischer? Ok, who's he?

Ferguson keeps proving he's a boy among sharks. Giving up Rask and someone else for Raycroft. Hasn't happened, but that's what the talk is. Sure, Fergie, take on a one year wonder and give up a possible future star. Smart.
It's happened, but just Rask for Raycroft. I still think it stinks. Raycroft is not going to have another year like his rookie year. Wish we had done with Theo what Boston did with Raycroft.

I think that Boston treated Raycroft just like they treat everyone . . . and that he'll bounce back in TO. But I hope I'm wrong.

Raycroft was injured & when he did play he played poorly. They had to play Thomas to have any chance at the playoffs.

I guess we will find out in October. I'm still surprised Boston let him go for a guy that's never played pro though.

This sucks now. Got no more live coverage. If they took 2 mins for every player and stopped the yammering on the podium I could of atleast seen the first 2 rounds.

Raycroft was injured & when he did play he played poorly. They had to play Thomas to have any chance at the playoffs. Ya, but then they let him rot. Granted, Thomas was hot . . . but Raycroft was forgotten/ignored. I think too many people think Raycroft=Theo -- the "one good season" theme.

they're counting on pogge to be their next star goaltender, but goal prospects are never sure things, some of the best have come from later rounds and weren't outstanding in junior. pogge didn't do much in the whl playoffs to carry his team. i actually liked rask better at the world junior, but he had more of a chance to standout because of the amount of rubber he was facing.

I don't know why everybody's getting their panties in a bunch. This year's talent pool is supposedly thin; I don't think it matters who anybody picks. You could do excessive scouting, or you could flip a coin. Chances of success aren't that high.

Talked to my Cranbrook buddy (who's now in Campbell River...seems the Cup follows him around) and asked about Ben Maxwell, as he's seen him a lot in the last 2 years. We're going to like him a lot. He's a really smooth skater, with an effortless style. More of a playmaker than a goal scorer, with good leadership skills. He's also good on faceoffs, something that wasn't mentioned in any scouting reports. So it seems he's another good character player, with skill.

Why not just have all the GM's throw darts at a board with players names? They don't need to pay scouting staffs when they have internet experts like us who are more than willing to tell them what to do without having to travel to all those games in the stix and actually see the kids play but simply write extraordinarily long sentences about irrational likes and dislikes like Corey Locke and Martin Rucinsky.
