Anaheim is a disaster. If Gibson had not been literally Vezina great for the first half of the season, the Ducks would have 31st place in the league sewn up.
Murray made a bunch of mistakes extending contracts to guys on the wrong side of their primes. Maybe ownership is vexed about this and told him if he wants to fire Carlyle then he needs to go behind the bench or resign himself. Anaheim is far from being a rich club so perhaps Murray is just trying to help out and save a few dollars by not promoting anyone to the interim title.

Inevitable really. It's a team built for the old ways. Perry, Getzlaf, and Kesler all on the wrong side of 30 making a lot of dough.
