Florida's front office has made some really dumb decisions over the last two seasons. But I think the biggest indictment of Boughner was how lackadaisical the Panthers played from start to finish this season.
It is kind of crazy. Therrien is only 55 years old and if you simply go by the numbers his NHL coaching career has been pretty successful, but I think that it is extremely unlikely that he lands one of these jobs. It must say something about how his man management skills are perceived around the league.

Maybe Boughner let the horses out of the barn because there were a few career years offensively. However, their defensive zone play is atrocious. Some of the guys on that roster are simply coach eaters.

Given his well established reputation, given that the video backroom to his coaching style was fully exposed, I doubt any players in any team would gets excited about Therrien coming in as a head coach. Well, maybe DD....but he's in Europe. Not surprised he hasn't even made it to assistant coach in peewee. MTheads brilliant style.....and why he deserves his to have his career end.....(rough language)

Philadelphia is not a bad landing spot because there is quite a decent amount of high end talent. I think that Vigneault is a good coach, though he will have the challenge of trusting a lot of young players and dealing with rising expectations. I would certainly believe that Flyers fans will view 2019-20 as a failure if the team misses the playoffs.

Maybe Melnyk is casting a wide net to see who will take the least amount of annual salary

Maybe Melnyk is casting a wide net to see who will take the least amount of annual salary Rick's shown over the years to be a very effective assistant coach. His defenses do very well. Saw some people point to his record with the Sens the first time around. They conveniently forgot how bad that team was. His last HC gig was interim with the Coyotes. That was 15 years ago.

Maybe Melnyk is casting a wide net to see who will take the least amount of annual salary but more likely this.

I know there are only 31 head coach jobs in the NHL, but it surprises me that Martin would want to work for Melnyk. If wrong I do not remember, Martin was fired by Melnyk many years ago.

Wow, maybe Patty is just trying to project his name (and availability) out there so interest materializes from various directions/destinations.
I cannot fathom how the relevant relationships would work. Roy would walk all over Dorion and I imagine that since he is pretty outspoken and unfiltered that he would clash with Melnyk.

Well, DJ Smith is Ottawa's new head coach. He only received a three year and one based on logic might surmise that he will be the lowest paid head coach in the league.

It would have been a lot more fun if they'd hired Patrick Roy.
