At the rookie development camp I was a bit disappointed to see that only one undrafted player was invited. But the signing of Cedrick Desjardins tells me that Gainey continues to look for players to round out the rosters of the various teams in the organization.
It will be interesting to see if one or two more names don't pop up before the season begins. With the added depth in the scouting staff I am sure that a few new possibilities are being discussed by the team.
I believe the Habs can only have 50 players under contract at one time but that doesn't prevent Hamilton or Cincinnati from signing them and keeping them more or less in the Montreal system.

I expected a few more tryouts, but then again I expect to see more at the rookie camp this fall. The Habs are now at 44 players under either one way or two way contracts. There is a little room but that is also likely why they signed Gleed, Dulac-Lemelin, and Desjardins to AHL contracts, so that they can give them a look without using up one of the remaining spots. I also expect to see a vet signing or two for Hamilton before puck drop. Hamilton's owner has been given the okay to spend his own money doing just that, so expect them to sign at least one more.

In this interview with the Team 990 radio station just before the Development Camp (I believe this interview was July 3rd), Trevor Timmins does confirm that there a bunch of other guys that they brought into the Bell Centre that were not at the combine. He also mentioned that they will look at some other guys at the Rookie Camp in the fall.
The Development Camp seems to be for newly drafted players who are either unsigned or else who are recent signees, so that the Habs can give them some key tools to take away in their development with their home teams. The Development Camp is not an evaluation camp, so is not really geared towards tryouts. In the Rookie Camp, guys are evaluated and then go the way of the main training camp, the Dogs camp, or else back to their respective teams. I expect we will see half a dozen or so tryouts based on past experience.
