It looks as though Lee is the one digging in to play a little hard ball and make the Islanders sweat him hitting the market.
Looking at the numbers, Eberle certainly looked like he was inclined to stay put. It sure seems a young team like Colorado or New Jersey looking for some veteran scoring in the 20-25 goal range would have paid somewhat more on July 1.
I never saw him as super dynamic and to be honest I would not have supported pursuing him in free agency. Again, my list would be short (in order): Panarin, Karlsson, Duchene, and Edler.
