Ylonen's Liiga action ends this weekend, and his team is definitely not making the playoffs. The good news is he is coming over to finish the season with Laval and join fellow countryman KK as well.

Laval 5 Utica 2. Huge divisional win tonight. McNiven with the 28 save effort. Dauphin with two goals and Jevpalovs with two assists. KK missed his second game in a row due to illness (a bug). Pretty depleted lineup, but big result.

Some Rocket news. Ylonen is expected to arrive in Montreal tonight. He should get some practice time with the team before their big games later this week in Cleveland on Thursday and Friday.
Hopefully KK is over his flu soon. Still a long time until game day on Thursday, as it would be nice to get him back in the lineup. Poehling left the last game and did not come back. I saw some tweet where he is quoted saying it is nothing serious and he will be back soon. I hope so too.
Great to see Juulsen practicing with the team. Baby steps.

Sounds like KK is back at practice, so hopefully his flu bug is long gone and did not get any of his mates.
Poehling will not make the trip, unfortunately.
Blandisi will and should be back for the Cleveland games. He is the more talented of the guys we got from PIT in the AHL swap (Varone and Barber out) and he left his first game with the Rocket.
Lynch and Vejdemo had therapy days but are expected to play this week too.
As for Ylonen, he did not play his last two games with the Pelicans this past weekend. Sounds like he has a minor injury. Bouchard was non committal as to whether he plays this week in Cleveland or not as he is awaiting final medical clearance.

Without Hudon and Ouellet it really seems like it will be tough for Laval. The Monsters are bad this season but I'm skeptical the boys can get the four points they need in Cleveland unless the goalie stands on his head.

This is a good win for the Rocket considering Hudon, Ouellet, Vejdemo, and Evans are not on the trip.

This is a good win for the Rocket considering Hudon, Ouellet, Vejdemo, and Evans are not on the trip. Also missing Poehling and now Fleury, and Alzner is still with the Habs. Gutsy win. Can they do it again tomorrow?

Late scratch tonight. No word on what ails him, or how long he will be out.

KK with a spleen injury from last night’s game. Out indefinitely. The Rocket just don't have the horses to finish this season and get in the playoffs. Too many men down and a very tough schedule against most of the top teams and the teams they are chasing.
Credit where credit is due. They have been playing very well since they removed Varone, Barber, Peca and Kinkaid.

The Rocket might see Fleury return and Ylonen make his debut this weekend, but the best injury news is that Noah Juulsen returns to action tonight!!
I wish him well in his ongoing recovery.

KK done for the season due to his spleen injury. Tough luck for him and the Rocket as he was playing well and gaining his confidence back.

The only thing I saw was a possible heavy check into the boards. No idea if there were pre-existing conditions. Not much out there on his injury.

It is good to hear that Juulsen is cleared to play. The kid has had no luck with the injuries and the health problems triggered by those injuries.
I think that everyone just has to cross their fingers and hope that he can play hockey for a month or two, and come to camp healthy. For me it is way too premature to expect that he is an answer on the Habs blueline in 2020-21. The reality is that he is a 23 year old who has not yet played 100 games of professional hockey (AHL and NHL combined). Basically his development during these key years has been curtailed and I believe that it is more realistic to expect that he will need time to catch up.

A huge 3-0 win against first place Belleville tonight. Primeau with the shutout, goals by Jevpalovs, Lucchini and Blandisi. Blandisi also added two assists. Olofsson was a horse on D. Amazing what this team is doing with such a depleted lineup and since they sent those pouty vets packing. Brook is playing pretty good hockey, and Juulsen survived his first big test after such a long layoff. Baby steps.
Another nice thing to see was that Evans and Suzuki joined the Rocket scratches in the team box: Ylönen, Teasdale, Fleury, Belzile, Verbeek, etc. Good to see the camaraderie amongst the young crew.

goals by Jevpalovs, Lucchini and Blandisi. who? Welcome to their lineup these days lol!!!! The last two guys are the AHLers we got in return for the disgruntled vets Barber and Varone. The first guy is a Latvian that used to play for Bouchard in the Q and is on an AHL contract. What Laval is doing with a really weak lineup right now is kind of amazing. Too bad it is likely too little too late as no doubt the AHL season is at risk too and they are still outside looking in.

I am sure the official league announcement is coming shortly. The Rocket would have been playing in front of an empty building anyway given the Province's ban announced earlier today.
Just awaiting the results of the CHL call today with the three member leagues. Regular seasons end next weekend, so I wonder if they will pause after that or right away like other NA hockey leagues are doing.
EDIT: The QMJHL, OHL and WHL follow suit. I guess my choice to go attend the last home game of the Oil Kings' regular season (I have had tickets for this game for a while now) is made for me! I had been holding off buying a playoff pass due to the whole risk and uncertainty of this evolving situation.
All those unwatched junior, U18 and prospects games I have PVRed might get watched now!!

Nice to hear that Juulsen survived that hit and the first game back as well. Sadly, it appears this will be it for the season. Missing out on the playoff push is a bummer for all of the guys. But this is tough for Juulsen because he really needs professional game reps more desperately than most.

But this is tough for Juulsen because he really needs professional game reps more desperately than most. Yeah, he needs to play some games. The timing of the "pause" really impacts him. It is also tough for Ylonen who flew across the pond, was hampered with a minor injury and was poised to make his debut with the team tonight. Best laid plans...

For sure, a kid like Brook may not have transitioned as seamlessly as some of us may have wanted yet he has more AHL games under his belt in one season than Juulsen in that same league during his entire pro career. And maybe Fleury was trailing off a little as this season went along, but he was selected two draft years later than Juulsen and nevertheless has more professional experience.
Montreal will re-sign Juulsen this summer, but I will be interested to see what kind of contract he gets. I would suspect, given how the kid's development is behind schedule (not his fault but it is what it is), that he may have to take two-way deal.
I guess that at least Ylonen gets used to the city, establishes a relationship with his coaches, and hangs out with guys like Lehkonen, Armia and Kotkaniemi.

I was pleased to see the Canadiens organization have re-signed Alex Belzile for next season. Given how much he brings to the table for the Rocket, I have no problem using one of Montreal's fifty pro contracts on him.
