So the Leafs came off an impressive opening night win on the road against Detroit. Media were buzzing about how good these "New Look Leafs" were. Then the Habs rolled into town on Saturday night and, well... (You can hear Hughson smugly making remarks about Toronto's team at the end) If the video doesn't want to load, here's the link: youtu.be/7Ozn3JNA4uY

That PP was absolutely lethal.

That's for that clip, Mattias. Our PP kept us in many games during that era.
Don't mean to throw cold water on the throwback....but.....
That was our Centennial season. Carbo was let go; Gainey took over. Sneaked into the playoffs as the 8th seed....swept by the 1st place Bruins in Round 1. I recall Ryder chipping in a few for the Bruins.
Also..about 10 UFAs walked after that season. The last for Koivu and Kovalev in the CH.
10 years ago....time whooshes by....
We've had very little to cheer about since our most recent parade....but the next season (2009-10) Halak took us on a very unexpected, thrilling ride.

I remember Halak salvaged the 08-09 season, too, CH. A rough sophomore year for Price...

I dare say we could use another Robert Lang in the lineup by the start of the season ... he came from Chicago and just as soon as he heard he'd been traded, he packed up what he needed and drove right to Montreal ... Roman Hamrlik was one of Bob Gainey's best UFA signings ... he was literally a general on the blue line and our defence corps improved immediately ... was expecting a lot more from that team, but they were exciting to watch ... but we also ended up trading the wrong Kostitsyn brother ... Cheers.

I loved at the end when Highson says "So much for the unbeaten season"
That was a fun team to watch, The General on the blueline, we had size, speed, skill. Lats and Sergei should have done way more than they did in their careers...
