He'll be 26 when the contract starts. While younger than Carey was at the start of his, the comparative take home salary for Andrei means he's getting a lot more.

I have no idea how Tampa is going to do it. Hedman, Kucherov, Stamkos, McDonaugh and now him. That's a lot of dough and we haven't even counted Johnson, Point.

Point and Erne are their only RFAs this year. I don't see point accepting a bridge deal, but who knows. Still don't have the space. Stamkos, Palat, Johnson, Gourde and Killorn all have NTCs. I don't see any waiving. They have 3 goalies on contract. Domingue is likely the odd man out. Next year could be even more interesting. Cirelli, Joseph, Martel Cernak and Sergachev are all RFAs at that point.

Would love to see the league adopte an after tax cap to level the playing field.

Vasilevsky undoubtedly takes home more than Carey despite grossing $1MM less. If I was a team without the benefit of no state tax, I'd be screaming for a change to the CAP rules.

From a roster/cap architecture standpoint, I am really not crazy about paying a goalie, no matter how elite, more than 10 percent of the cap. I guess that BriseBois can take solace in the fact that these should be Vasilevskiy's best years (contract ends at age 33).
I get it that Tampa is buying six UFA years from a top goalie, but it is rich considering teams make the playoffs and make noise in the playoffs with good goalies who are merely paid like good goalies.

Been arguing for a post tax cap for a number of years. It simply makes too much sense not to do.
