Yeah, that did not work out.
I suppose this very likely means that Kreider is not going anywhere until the trade deadline.

I remember at the time that it seemed like a foregone conclusion that Shattenkirk was going to NY, no one else needed to bother with an offer.

The Rangers are his childhood team and that is basically where he wanted to be.
I think that Shattenkirk is a good power play weapon but I am not sure he was ever really exceptional offensively in terms of driving offense at even strength. And, of course, that is a magnified issue if a guy is also a below average defender both positionally and effort-wise.
