Apologies for not posting a link, but the story’s easy to find. I’ll move the thread to Nostalgia next week. Maybe we can change the title of that section to “Alumni and Nostalgia”.
Best to Guy!

Watching him fly back in the day is the reason I'm a Hab fan today. Best of luck to him

Given he smoked 2 packs a day when he played, this isn't much of a surprise. Glad he's going to recovery.

Arguably one of greatest Habs. He could raise his level of play higher in pressure situations as good as anybody. But there were always rumours of not looking after himself. Which no doubt lead to his early down slide of his career. Also, why at such a young age he is having major medical problems.

Given he smoked 2 packs a day when he played, this isn't much of a surprise. Glad he's going to recovery. He also smoked between periods DURING games! Guy was an avid tennis-player and it's been said he had the lung-capacity of two men. Easily, the most electrifying Hab I've seen in my lifetime. Initially, Big Jean turned me into a Hab fan - Cournoyer held the fort and Guy kept me there.

What with practice, etc., the only way to get those 2 packs in is to smoke between periods lol. He was a remarkable athlete. Richer had many of those same traits. I've always wondered what he could have done had he not quietly dealt with nearly debilitating mental health issues. Very easily could have had similar numbers.

My earliest memory of the Habs is seeing Jean Beliveau come out to centre ice on crutches to receive the Cup, but the player who hooked me into the Habs was Jacques Lemaire ... I remember the first time I saw him he was flying across the Toronto blue line and letting a low slapshot go that beat Johnny Bower to the far side ... been hooked ever since ... Pete Mahovlich is a close second to Coco, JC Tremblay my #3 ... Cheers.

Stand-up comic, Bill Hicks ca. 1990:
I’m a heavy smoker. (to audience member) You’re a smoker....how heavy? Two packs a day? I go through two lighters a day....
