Who knows, too little information to judge. On the one hand, this could be a volatile front office taking advantage of the current climate to fire a guy (and avoid paying all or most of the money left on his contract) that seems to be not meeting expectations and who seems to have trouble dealing with the Stars' star players. On the other hand, maybe he hit someone or otherwise crossed the line.
If I had to hazard a guess, I would bet on the former. There have been a lot of rumblings out of Dallas for a handful of years that owner Tom Gagliardi is pissed that he spends to the cap year after year for mediocre results. And we all remember the controversy last season when the club President spoke publicly about Benn and Seguin in a very unprofessional manner and GM Nils has been feeling the heat for the last 2-3 years.

What? Montgomery's a closet goon? Hard to say what exactly happened. Doesn't sound like it was something relating to the conduct policy. There's been a lot of off ice stuff going on there over the last 18 months. Perhaps he told the wrong person (owner) where to go.

Did he not come from the NCAA? From what I understand, coaches would have way less latitude/opportunity for misbehavior in that environment than they have had in Major Junior and Professional.

Gagliardi must be pissed he spends to the cap to get mediocre results and Molson doesnt have to to get the same result!
