Man. Either you guys are all impatient or I've been replaced rather quickly as the Dogs reporter.
The game was 5 minutes old and someone already posted a score. Sheesh. I didn't know it was a race.
Anyway....I'm doing it whether you like it or not. Thunder stealers.
It's nice leaving Copps Coliseum after a win. Usually, the drive home involves excessive swearing, but tonight....it was good times.
Although the win was shaky, it's still two points. Mike Lambert and Andrei Kostitsyn were not in the line-up. Just so you know....I had my in-between period snack of hot candied cashews in the first intermission again and they continued to play well. I'll stick to that for now. I'm just doing my part.
Good: As always Maxim Lapierre. He doesn't stop. It's not a surprise that he was named Bulldogs hardest working player of the game for the fifth straight home game. 2 assists, +1 and 9 shots on net. Yes....9. This is on top of all of his hits, his faceoff wins and his excellent penalty killing. It's fun to watch him. Sure he takes a bad penalty from time to time, but everyone does. In all honesty, he was criticized for doing just that last game, but both calls were sketchy.
Duncan Milroy played a good two way game. A couple of assists, the empty netter and first star. I still believe he's a career AHLer. He'll be a good one though.
Jon Gleed was a pleasant surprise. In the line-up for his first AHL game. Comes away with an assist and a team leading +3
Mikhail Grabovsky. This kid is special. He had a gorgeous goal for his first AHL tally. The things I'm noticing are that he's often the first one back and he knows to go to the front of the net. Last game I mentioned how he had some good chemistry with Maxim Lapierre. For some odd reason Don Lever actually kept his lines together and continued to play them. On the wing was a returning Francis Lemeiux. Frank was on fire. He was a machine out there and these three had some amazing chances. I love this line. Boom....Francis injures a knee in the second period. He'll be re-evaluated tomorrow, but he's not going on the road trip. It's a shame because he was really working hard.
Average: Most of the rest of the team. Ryan "Two-Face" O'Byrne took a step forward and played an ok game. 11 hits and no major guffaws. Jonathon Ferland, Kyle "Clarica" Chipchurra and Matt D'Agostini all played their games. Yann Danis got the win, but he wasn't dominating. He needs to be pushed more by Halak. Little Slav needs to start another game.
Bad: Andre Benoit and Patrick Traverse. These guys kill me. They actually team together now. Benoit doesn't show as much effort as he needs to. I don't think I can really say anything more about Reverse. The dude makes angry. His play makes my head spin so much. Have I said that he's a really bad hockey player?
This team could be a play-off team. If healthy and if Montreal stays healthy and doesn't make too many call-ups. They need their veteran D back. Cote and Archer. A healthy Kostitsyn and Lemiuex have to be there. It's a lot of 'if's. I know. If they fire Lever and bring in a coach, then things get even more optimistic.
Once again....the Buffalo/Rochester team are a combined 16-0 right now. Wow.
Syracuse...a week from Friday.
