Big win for the Dogs tonight - 6-1 over a good Knights team. They might have been tired from last night's win over the Marlies, but the Dogs dominated them for most of the game (shots on goal were 36-20 in favour of the Dogs).
Looked like it might be a long night early on. Hamilton outshot Omaha 15-6 in the first but couln't put the puck in the net (Omaha didn't get their first shot on goal until well after half way through the period). Of course Omaha then scored first in the second, but it was all Dogs after that.
Of note for the Habs' prospects:
Duncan Milroy played a pretty solid game and had a goal and an assist.
Matt D'Agostini continues to impress me - he picked up 2 assists.
Kostitsyn played an outstanding game with 2 assists and was +3 for the night. He's played with a lot of passion the last few games. He threw a number of solid checks tonight and he topped it off with a fight at the end of the game, coming to the defense of another Dog (don't remember who it was) who had just been elbowed by Kris Chucko at the buzzer (Chucko the clown?). The fight started out like Kotsy was going to get his clock cleaned, with Chucko throwing a lot of punches, but AK came back with a few of his own. This was actually the second time in the game where he waded into a scrum to the defense of another player. It's sure good to seem him start to play like he cares.
Lapierre played his usual up-tempo game and potted his 5th of the year.
O'Byrne was solid on defense.
J.P. Cote played his first game of the year. He looked like he needs a little work, but he put in a solid effort.
Halak started in goal tonight and played a solid game, although he wasn't tested too much. He had no chance on the one goal he gave up.
All in all a great effort by the Dogs. They have a rematch next Tuesday night that should be interesting - play was chippy at times and after the score got one-sided you could see a few of the Knights looking to try to take out some of the Dogs. Unfortunately Tuesday is my curling night.
