Hawks fire team president

John Mcdonough, who hired Stan Bowman & was in charge when the Hawks won their 3 latest Cups, has been fired.

Generally speaking a President is less in the firing line than a GM when a club hits an extended dry patch so this is a bit suprising. However, one never knows and perhaps Bowman is also running out of time despite having added three Stanley Cups to a trophy case that was not exactly full of silverware.

If I had to guess, I presume that Wirtz is either making himself the POHO or bringing Bowman up to the President chair while hiring a new GM to place a new mind and set of eyes on the Blackhawks' rebuild.

I was half-wrong half-right. Rocky Wirtz did not make himself the President; instead he made his son, Danny Wirtz, the POHO.

It is perhaps not fair to generalize, and eventually time will say. But something tells me that Chicago is making a mistake.
