Carey is a class act through and through. As the boys older brother said, Carey is a great goalie and a great person. Gets me wondering whether character should be a factor for induction into the Hall of Fame, particularly if your acts enhance the reputation of the great game? If Pete Rose can be denied because of his off field character (gambling) despite his stats (altho he may have achieved them by cheating - see Maguire), then shouldn't great character be allowed to bolster one's credentials for election? Or maybe they should have a category for hockey people who showed great character - you could place the plaques of these members at the Hall in the Jean Beliveau Room. Brad Marchand need not apply!
Don't get me wrong, I believe Carey is worthy of election without regard to his great deeds off the ice, but for those on the fence, perhaps these gestures should tip things in a player's favour.
