For sure, good for Hillis. He certainly seems like the safest bet of that group of centres vying for contracts. He is smart enough and steady enough physically to make a smooth transition to the AHL.
I wonder if there projects to be room in Laval so as to offer Houde a straight AHL contract in the event that interests the kid?

If we do not offer deals to McShane, Fonstad and Houde, then they must re-enter the draft first. If not picked, any team, including us, can sign them to an ELC or AHL deal.

Pierre Mcquire was on 690 yesterday, said he was a good player but needed many years in AHL. He is very coachable and Bouchard could do good work with him.

Of McShane, Fonstad and Hillis, Hillis was the guy who showed the most improvement production wise. The other two had plateaued. Seems like the right choice.
