Don't have a link but just saw this on the Buffalo channel. He's replaced with Kevyn Adams.
The sportscaster seriously questioned this move. Adams has no experience as a GM & the Sabres did no outside search. The owner, Terry Pegula seems impatient. He only gave Tim Murray & Dan Bylsma 2-3 years before turfing them. He describes Adams as a hard worker & a good comumnicator. That's nice but does he know how to run a hockey team?
Botteril wasn't good but it sèems like Pegula is an impatient meddler.

Scouting wasn't that great the last few years for Buffalo. Dylan Cozens may turn out, but I would have taken Zegras ahead of him. Eichel and Dahlin were slam dunks, but the scouting hasn't provided much support for those guys. Still, they are 2 key pieces of a SC team, so Buffalo isn't that far out, surprisingly. I wonder if scouting is a Kevyn Adams' forte? If you were going to get rid of someone, why not pull the trigger earlier when Ron Francis was out of a job? Too late now.
Adams last position was Senior V-P of Business Administration for the Sabres.

Bergevin needs to be all over him like ants to a picnic. See if they can get an Eichel or Reinhart. Buffalo is looking to cut costs. Offer them Suzuki or Kotmenimi and Primeau as a starting offer.

The Pegulas basically fired everyone in the organization's hockey ops. Botterill did a poor job so his dismissal is not the most surprising thing ever, though he only got three years. Both Assistant GMs got kicked to the curb, as did the Director of Amateur Scouting, most of the amateur scouts and all the coaches in Rochester.
As you allude to, Kevyn Adams is the new GM and who knows when all those other positions get filled. In reality, many of them likely never will because there is talk that the Pegulas are in the process of making fewer financial resources available to the Sabres moving forward in comparison to what they provided during their first decade owning the club.
Buffalo is a prime example of organizational instability producing dysfunction. Montreal is at the other end of the spectrum. I have said and continue to believe Molson's overvaluation of continuity erodes accountability.

I wonder what players like Eichel think. He's expressed his frustration publicly & now a house cleaning followed by the installation of a novice GM might be too much. It just looks like more of the same futility for the Sabres.

I have a buddy who is a huge lifelong Sabres fan. He is so sick of losing and incompetent management. However, he thinks, for now at least, Eichel will stay on board since the captain/star really gets on well with Krueger.

What a gong show. 19 folks canned. Interesting to note that Mike Komisarek (player development coach) was one of them. I was not aware he held that role for the Sabres. They also got rid of Ryan Jankowski who was a former amateur scout with the Habs after a bigger position with he Isles. He also did a recent stint with Hockey Canada as their head scout. Rochester were a perennial top team and had a .605 winning record this season (in second place several teams ahead of our Rocket).
Good luck hiring, Pegulas.

Mike Komisarek as the player development coach? He's still learning, is he not? Hey, Adams....Andrei Markov is available.

The only people he's going to find now are those desparate for a job or inexperienced coaches looking for a start. Must be pretty demoralizing for players.

The Peguloas are downsizing and cutting costs. They aren't looking to replace them. Adams had to decrease their scouting staff from 21 scouts to 9 after the previous GM was fired. I know there scouting and drafting has been bad but to fire 12 scouts (more than half of what you had) before is a lot.

Don't know Buffalo situation but to fire 22 sounds like dire straits. Mainly, scouts they don't make that much. Talking peanuts.

Buffalo's retrenchment in Hockey Ops may be the most extreme example, but the Pegulas are not alone. Carolina is also moving forward without Assistant GMs. Bergevin's old pal, Rick Dudley, got shown the door. Heck, the Canes' play by play man, John Forslund, who has been there like forever, is facing the axe if he does not accept a major pay cut.

To me he seems like a guy who considers people as inventory. Just something to use up to get ahead. I wouldn't mind if he loses his shirt on the Hurricanes.

Jeje, I bet Dundon did not like depositing $9.75 million dollars in Aho's bank account yesterday.
