Suzuki hits the bar with 26 seconds left. Best chance all period.

Betcha we don't get a third period PP ...they've had 2 , just saying Sure wish Tatar, Domi, and Gallagher were dressed for this game Armia is an offensive black hole I thought the Flyers got away with a hook in our zone just before Price was pulled. I've seen those called...tug on the arm. Definite hook, but the NHL is back to "letting the boys play" it seems. What did they have yesterday? 5 OT periods with only a couple of automatic puck-over-the-glass calls? Yeah, right. Even more frustrating given the chintzy slashing call on Drouin that led to the Flyers first goal. Suzuki. Man oh man, what a great game. But that last shot is going to haunt him all night.

What did JK do to deserve that?

What did JK do to deserve that? I said earlier why is CJ punishing JK... it's a 20 year olds job to motivate those 2? Really?? I'm surprised he didn't put Suze between them... CJ is like an old dog...

Suzuki’s shot and Danault’s rebound effort were the only two dangerous chances that I saw in the last five minutes. The flyers managed to keep dangerous chances to a minimum. Habs weren’t able to exert any sustained pressure. But they were in the game.
Man. Matt Murray wins the SC his first two years and then turns into Steve Penney? WTF

CJ is like an old dog... Easy enough to say he’s trying to kickstart them but bottom line is he broke up a well functioning line (KK Byron Lehkonen) to put KK in a position to fail. Domi and Drouin are not playoff warriors.

The Habs had some good stretches where the controlled the play, most notably for much of the second period. Habs are going to have to play mistake free hockey to win, as you can't give up anything easy or go down by a couple of goals. Offense is just too hard to come by. We'll also need some bounces to go our way.

Was happy the boys were in it to the end. Had a great 2nd period. Lecky is a warrior - so is Danny.
Unfortunately other than Suzuki we got no offense going up front. Kulak had a great series against Pens but tonight he was back to his dumb give away tricks.
Big disappointments in 5 games are Tatar, Armia, and Domi. I'll cut Domi some slack given his 4th line duties - CJ has to change that. I'm not disappointed with Drouin as I expect him not to be engaged and even less so against a tough Flyers team. If we get nothing else out of this series, it will be a success if MB realized Drouin has no heart or character and he needs to get rid of the guy.
If we go down 2 games it's time to get the kids in there. Poehling for Weise. Fleury and Juulsen for Ouilet and Kulak.
Big question for me: is Hart that good or was he lucky tonight? I also think it is a huge advantage for a kid in the playoffs not to be laying before a live crowd.

The way Philly handled the other teams in the round Robin I was expecting a blowout Yeah, same here. Been hearing from the experts Flyers were leading candidate to come out of the east. I thought we played them close. Shows Pitt series was no fluke. Canadiens have a good team. Flyers get a break with Oulette and other AHLers in our lineup. We traded Scandella, Kovalchuk and them at the trade deadline. Other wise they could be in trouble. Flyers will win this series but we are on our way. Next season remove the 4 career AHLers we have in our lineup now. Juulsen, Romanov a lot better than Oullette and Mete. We be a notch higher. Trade Tatar for a pick in '21 draft, gives us 2 first next year and allows us the cap room to lock up the other 4 free agents.

I though they looked like the average team they are and were for 71 games this year. Actually below average judging by their 24th place in the standings. They were fortunate enough to be given a gift they didn’t deserve with the play in series.
Just not enough difference makers other than maybe Suzuki last night but this has been the story all year.
Yes I’m still bummed about the 12.5%

WTF Maybe it was just an optical illusion, but the orange group looked a lot bigger. We don't have anyone who can create space in the hot spots against such a team....and our odd-man-rush execution remains dismal. We're forced to play a perimeter game, throw pucks at the net, and hope for bouncing rubber. Price held us in. We are who we are...that's all we can expect.

Yes I’m still bummed about the 12.5% I suppose there would've been a butterfly effect had the Habs' "balls" been in the mix instead of the Pens' but I'm going with the Rangers winning the lottery regardless. Not via conspiracy...just the way it went. What we lost was any real chance at a future difference-maker in this draft. The 9th slot is gone...and pre-COVID, we were on a trajectory for an even lower pick, no? Oh well...the boys are playing NOW...they want to win NOW. Same for all players/coaches. It's management's job to play chess with the roster...and it's up to a POHO/ownership to discern between chess, checkers, and tiddly-winks.

Well the first period was all Philly, the second period was all Montreal, and the third period was two teams desperately trying to not make a mistake.
That's exactly what I expected out of this series. I expect it to be very close games.
Last night, the refs seemed like they couldn't see orange. The call on Drouin was weak, there were worse that could have been called in all three periods. The two calls in the third were terrible. If you call them, then you have to call the slash and hold that Philly got away with late in the third. But also they got away with a trip and an interference right after Montreal killed both those penalties.
So in summary. They scored on a PP that never should have been. The goal Price had no chance on either. And both teams got very similar like goals in front of the goal …
I didn't see any evidence that we don't have any chance
The Lottery? I'm over that. IF Pittsburgh's ball was drawn, I could see the angst. Losing the 9th overall? Meh, I don't see that as any better or worse than the 16th. If we beat Philly, well that's Playoff University, and how can that be bad?

And, if we do beat Philly, we still own the 16th pick. We don't lose the 16th pick unless we win 2 rounds. So... Go Habs Go

Montreal certainly has a chance if Price keeps providing exceptional play in net.
But the reality is the boys will have to create more offensively. Honestly, I counted genuine high quality scoring chances on one hand.

I understand what we're seeing from Droupin... that's his M.O., has been since he left juniors... Domi has me puzzled... Is he sulking because he was doing 4th line duty? Is he sulking because he not a centre or is there an issue sub-consciously regarding covid? He has not been his in your face usual self imo.
What I do know is we can't have him, Drouin, Tatar and bGal not producing on the score sheet... might as well wave the white flag and leave the bubble.

But....if...but....if....butt...
I didn't see us as the better team from the get go. What i saw was a team that can be even up for a few stretches but never in control.
But...i can always pretend that hitting a goal post was an "almost" and it was a moral victory that we didn't get blown out.
Pfffftt....

Sure Suzuki hit the bar, but if Laughton scores and Thompson puts in that shot, it's not a close game anymore. Just not enough good scoring chances being generated.
