I'd say the Flyers bubble had burst.

Great effort all around. We have a series going now. That was probably the best effort I've seen from the entire team ... so much so, it'd be interesting to be a fly on the wall in the Flyers dressing room ... I suspect that we'll see a different Flyers team in Game 3 ... interesting comments by Anthony Stewart on Kirk Muller ... he said that Muller is the type of coach that doesn't sit back when he has a lead, he keeps pouring it on ... anyway, the team surprised me today ... didn't think they had that in them ... more please ... Cheers.

Well that was a Broadstreet Beat Down, wasn't it? (Bell Centre Beat Down? Scotiabank Skewer? A T.O. TKO? I dunno, I got nothing)One game, yada, yada, yada... but still! What a rocket by Kotkaniemi. And when did he decide he was going to be Eric Lindros light? He's throwing his body all over the place out there, and actually knocking guys over. Must be nice to be 19, where you can work out for a couple of months, play a little tennis, and still pack on 15lbs of muscle. In a way it's a shame next year is going to start so soon, because another couple of months of him working out and he would have been a beast. That was a fun game to watch. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, in the form of a couple of power-play goals against, or a bad give-away or something that would put the Flyers back in the game. Or a knee-on-knee that takes out Suzuki because as Hab fans we haven't been allowed to have nice things for a very long time now. But only good things happened, and my Friday night is a happy one.

Ahh c'mon...did you have to pick on the poor kid? He's shaking a dump...and you gotta post that? I got nothing for the game because I'm watching it after dinner....with a bit of red wine. As for celebrating...i had a boss that in every morning meeting, he use to ask everyone individually....what are you going to accomplish today? Every other manager wilted under that question...i arrogantly and confidently answered....just watch me. I want the boys to put the game behind them....and with 100 years of glorious history, respond with.....just watch us.

Tatar and Kotkaniemi with 2 goals each Mete with 2 assists Domi with 3 assists We've got a series. Wonder if Philly wasn't due for a stinker, but this is Montreal's second-straight game where they're hanging with the Flyers ... that said, they have to prep for Sunday where I suspect we'll see a different Flyers team ... that said, the gars will need the same compete level for Game 3 ... they don't want this game to be the Flyers "TSN Turning Point" ... as an aside, this tournament might be the best chance for Shea Weber (turned 35 today) and Carey Price (turns 33 on Sunday) to win a Cup with Montreal ... they're not playing an 82-game schedule and I feel a tournament, sprint-to-the-Cup format gives veteran players a better chance ... we'll see, anyway ... there's still a lot of hockey left to play ... I hope ... Cheers.

Great game. They dominated but they still need better and more organized entry.
Sunday will be brutal. The Fleas are going to go for the redneck solution.

No doubt. This is were a Tom Wilson can do wonders. Back in the day, the Habs had a few people that were certifiable AND willing. You go after Price, Fergy will re-arrange the face of your star player.

Wow! Boys played great and happy Carey got the SO.
Don't want to beat up on a guy when he's down but:
1) Who would think that Domi would be an impact when he's not o the 4th line?
2) Who would think KK could produce with some wingers?
3) Who would think we would have a stronger team with Wiese in the stands?
Would love to know how much of this was Muller's decisions or CJ had already decided.
And KK is a monster - and I'm not talking about his offence. He is dominating physically! He and Suze are the future!

I'm still kind of stunned at how well they're executing. I thought the defense was weak all year and that the forwards were incapable of scoring consistently, but this team looks far more coordinated than I think we've seen them in a long time.

I've seen the Habs on the other end of this & I don't get Vigneault's whining. This isn't the 70s so what is the point of bringing up a Don Cherry talking point. Don't get dumb penalties & the PP unit won't be out there. He lost his right to complain about that when he didn't challenge the 5th goal which looked offside at first glance. He threw in the towel on that play so he just has to move on.

The Habs PP is so scary too! Odds are AV saw the first unit and thought “Thank *^%#, at least it won’t be 6-0”
Muller was doing what coaches do. Get practice time in when possible. Lord knows the PP unit needs it.
Plus if they put out guys who never played on the PP and a shortie was scored, well that gives Philly some momentum going into Game 3.
Playoffs are all about killer instincts. No one gave this team a chance. Even Habs fans were saying it was dumb to play ONLY four more games (ie a sweep for Philly). Well everyone is paying attention now!

He and Suze are the future! In one of the articles on Sportsnet, Muller did say that his decisions to insert Evans and move Domi up were gut reactions. No doubt the entire coaching staff have likely talked lineup and line combos a lot together, but Muller made the final call on those tweaks and they both worked out. Nice to see him agree with all us armchair GMs/coaches.

I was watching Domi and Drouin being interviewed last night, and they were giving the standard “we play hard” typically answers , giving the impression they didn’t want to be there. (probably didn’t) ... but I felt they missed two opportunities on questions they were asked.
1) they were asked if they felt they checked all of Claude’s box in Game 2. They gave the typically “yes, we played hard. We are a tough team to best when we played hard”. I was hoping for “No. if CJ was here he’d tell us we played a great game but we have to be way more disciplined and stop giving them 5 on 3s”
2) they were asked if they dug down deep to win the game for CJ. They gave the standard “we wish him well, want him back, but aren’t trying to think of that”. I was hoping for “winning one game for CJ isn’t enough, we have to win 3 more for him thus series, and 15 more to make him and us happy”
I hate when teams say they won one game for someone, it gives The impression of mission accomplished.

I hate when teams say they won one game for someone, it gives The impression of mission accomplished. It's also usually temporary. It can also shed light on what they really think of the guy. I doubt that was at play last night. It's not as if Julien died. He had a blocked artery and the stent fixed it. I've been there. It's a production line. 20 minutes, you're done and the next guy is up. No pain, no surgery. Hard to see the incentive in that. I don't mean to minimize the seriousness of Julien's health, but basically, it's mostly fixed. Now, what might have inspired them is some kind of obvious line-up decisions. Evans should have been in there from the get go. Whatever one thinks of Domi, putting him on the 4th line is just wasting whatever talents he does have. The one thing Muller didn't do and I still find it inexplicable, is raising Kotkaniemi's ice time from 13-14 minutes. I haven't watched much of the games, but I'm reading a LOT of plaudits about KK's play. Yet, no reward. Doesn't compute and it's wasting a talent. His stat line was 2 goals, 50% OZ starts, 6 hits and 13:33 of ice time. A really key point is that not only is he playing well, he's producing. Some guys can look great but just don't get points. Other guys get points when it doesn't matter. This kid gets points and does it when its important. Duh.

Suze and dano got over 18 minutes each... 5 more than JK... Drouin got 2.5 minutes more than JK and Domi (they had the same TOI)... not sure how that happened...
It would be neat if JK went between Tatar and bGal.. Suze with Drouin and Domi...
JK, Suze, Dano, Evans/Poehling I like that centre lineup

Maybe a couple of pats on the back for Shea Weber and Nick Suzuki, both of whom blocked shots that, had they gone in, might have changed the momentum of the game ... it's nice seeing players play on their toes and not on their heels ... the last time I saw this kind of 'full-court press' was at the start of the 2018-19 season ... they kept it up for ~ 1/4 of the season and then gradually ran out of gas ... they'll need that same compete level if they want to get past the Flyers, who are probably pretty jacked up for Game 3 after listening to their coach ...
Cheers.
