Mysak named to the Czech Karjala Tournament team, where he will face Norlinder.
Interesting to see three ex-Rocket players on D: Jerabek, Moravcik, and Sklenicka.

The Habs held a zoom call today with Player Development coach Rob Ramage. A lot packed into the 40 minutes including some insights on a number of prospects.
Give it a listen.

Marc Dumont wrote a real good article on Mysak. Sounded like a lot of character to go with his skill.

That really was a superb shift. Always in motion, protecting the puck, getting open, and getting a laser shot off quickly before he was checked. His team has struggled to score goals, so his stats have suffered. As long as he does a lot of the little good things, the points should come. I really want to see what Bouchard can do with him once the AHL starts up.

Marc Dumont wrote a real good article on Mysak. Sounded like a lot of character to go with his skill. He reminds me of Pleks in a lot of ways. Defensively responsible guy who has some offense to his game. I compared his draft year to Phil Danault (Pleks didn't play Juniour hockey in Canada). They both had about the same ppg, but Mysak is a better goal scorer. Mysak only played 22 games for Hamilton, but considering he was in a new country, on a different ice surface, learning a new language, etc., I'd say his potential is higher than Danault's. Of his 25 points, for example, 15 were goals, so he seems to definitely be a better finisher than Phil. His assists weren't as good, obviously. Comparing him to Pleks, TP had 9-9-18 in 2000/01 as an 18 year old playing for Kladno in the Czech league. Mysak, before going to Hamilton, played 26 games for Litvinov in the same league and was 5-4-9. Pretty well the same production, but Mysak was 17 all of that season while Pleks was a full year older. Different times and I'm not sure the Czech league today is as strong as it was back then, but that's an optimistic comparison.

Good points and the comparison with Plekanec is an interesting one to watch. I am no expert, but I had the impression that the kid played centre for his national team because he was the most talented forward on the roster and they did not have a bunch of good options.
When I watched videos of him, I thought he looked more like a winger. He is not a jet, but he has a knack for beating guys wide because his handle is so good and his crossovers well timed. And you are right seventeen, Mysak is a better natural goal scorer than Danault. The kid trusts his shot from the slot and looks particularly adept with his quick hands of putting the biscuit up and over goalies when he gets in close.
I like Mysak and I liked the Habs' second round in the draft a lot because I felt they got good value at #47-48. However, most of the other kids Montreal selected did not strike me as 'steals' or particularly good value when they came off the board.

Mysak 15 goals in 22 hames for Hamiltin is good for a rookie. Quinn didn't average much better and his third year in OHL. Rossi averaged less. Mysak had solid world junior, at 17 impressive. Bob McKenzie had him ranked 34, hockey prospect had him 26, ISS had him 28th. Sounds like deep draft 2020 was why he still there mid-2nd round.

When you have a deep tier as seemed to be the case this year, every team could say "We had no idea he'd be there when our turn came". Every team's list is different when you get past a certain point (usually mid first round) and with 2020 so deep in a certain grouping where any number of players could have been picked...everyone can be happy. At least until a few years later and we see how they've developed.

Another profile on Mysak. What do you think of OHL not starting until February and no body checking? No checking or fighting, use broom handles instead of sticks and rings instead of pucks. Don’t start until March 2050!

Another profile on Mysak. What do you think of OHL not starting until February and no body checking? A lot of potentially lost development time with a start that late, and the whole Provincial Minister stance on no bodychecking is nuts. Those kids cannot alter their game that much. Players spend way more time in close proximity when they are in a scrum or board battle. Body checks are over and done with quickly. 2 of the 3 Habs prospects in the OHL (Dichow and Mysak) are loaned to European clubs and playing. Only LeGuerrier is left in limbo.

Mysak vs Norlinder at the Karjala Tourney today. Mysak with an assist as part of the 3-1 Czech win, leaving a mark while playing on the fourth line. #44 in red.

From that clip I also saw him on the back-check ... the clip also showed that he has impressive wheels whether on the back-check or as part of a transition to offence ... he's already a 200-ft player, and that will help him a lot ... hoping he spends minimal time in Laval adjusting to the North American game ... Cheers.

An actual hockey schedule for Wisconsin (their first 12 games anyway). Hopefully this bodes well for Caufield getting some real hockey in soon...and Gorniak too.
Sounds like Hockey East (Harris, Struble, Tuch) is close to releasing their schedule too for a late November start.
