I still don't know why Leskinen wasn't at the very least invited to the play-in as a Black Ace. He was a top defenseman in Finland, comes to North America and has a pretty good season for a rookie defenseman playing his first games on North American ice. Second leading scorer amongst defensemen in Laval. I think we need to start considering him a little more seriously.
While I wouldn't call 80mph a "bomb" (Shea Weber says hi), what I like about that goal is he has his head up the whole way in. A lot of guys just blast the puck as hard as they can at the goalie, whereas it sure looks like Leskinen is picking his spot here. Which is all the more impressive, if he actually hit what he was aiming at.

is he the 2nd round pick we took the other year? We have drafted terrible in Sweden. Yeah, in 2018. He was a good pick then, as he had really performed well and been an offensive catalyst for Timra getting promoted from the Allsvenskan to the SHL. He was decent sized, played centre, had good skating, and was responsible in his own end. He then suffered from injuries and stalled offensive development. He actually was playing well last season before his injury. Missing the WJC did not help either. Hopefully he can turn it around with his old team and more ice time and opportunities. They just lost two players who are under NHL contracts who are heading back to NA to start their quarantine in advance of training camps possibly in December. I know the Habs recently switched their Swedish scouts. He was the one was who along with Rockstrom found Norlinder. I figured they would go to Sweden again this draft with lots of good options with all those picks. Who was our Swedish scout and who is it now?

I once heard a coach, thinking Scotty Bowman, say if not a good shot can still be affect on PP if he makes sure he gets the shot past first penalty killer. Even if misses the net. Concentrate on where bounce of boards will go.

He'd shoot wide accidentally-on-purpose and whoa, just by "pure luck" the puck would bounce out front into the slot.

We all know Kotkaniemi is a thinker and has a subtle way about him in interviews ... do you think wearing #93 was an accident, or a shout out to Montreal that he knows the last time they won the Cup, and he is the future

Michigan thumped Wisconsin last night, but CC did get a nice primary assist on one of their two goals.
Some pretty nifty stick handling as he heads to the net...close, but nary a cigar.

I didn't watch the game, but I was happy to see these tweets from Mathias Brunet, who did watch:
Loosely translated:
"Instead of 'letting the game come to him' as he did against Notre Dame last week, Caufield is more aggressive. He's causing turnovers and getting chances to score."
"Caufield much more noticeable tonight against Michigan. At least so far."

Leskinen also playing today. Nice snapper. What do you think of Stapley? His chances being NHL player? For a 7th rounder I found it surprising Rob Ramage speak highly of him instead of recent higher picks

Farrell held without a point in the game, but he gives his team the W with a roof daddy in the shootout.

Caufield with a Hattie. Eat that Gorniak lol. Nice to see he's finally outscoring his brother! I haven't seen him play since that first game, but I'm guessing my mediocre review of his play in that game has inspired him to be better. No need to thank me. My ever-reliable YouTube scouting tells me that he's using his above-average stick handling to drive the net more, and he's using his playmaking skills a little bit as well. He'll never be known for either of those qualities, he'll always be the shooter, but adding a couple of other weapons to his repertoire is going to help him with that shooting. Open up passing lanes, force defenders to move, and all that. As much as I liked Michael Ryder (most underrated 30 goal scorer ever!) I'm hoping Caufield can be more than that.

I've been imagining him as a Cammalleri/Bellows type: a guy who doesn't do much more than score goals, but scores them reliably and often.
