Farrell with a 1+1 game and the SO winner. And -1 on the night. Short sample but that's 2 games where he has scored well, but his 5 on 5 has not been positive, points wise (4 points, -6 in 2 games). Either he has defensive deficiencies or he gets a lot of his points on the PP. None of this is un (in?) correctable, but it shows we shouldn't get too pumped up. Great wrister on the SO winner. top corner far side....that's a tough shot.

Watching chunks of it. Not impressed with Wisconsin. Their transition game sucks. Caufield hasn’t done anything that makes me stand up and take notice. Hope it’s just a bad game. About 1/2 way through.

I hate to be that guy... but I'm going to be that guy.
The player he knocked over was Sean Dhooghe, who is listed at 5'3, 150lbs.
Those aren't typos.

About 1/2 way through. I watched parts of both games, Wisconsin, considering they are ranked 14th and Arizona was not ranked, Arizona played really well and nullified the Badgers attack... also the Badgers goalies played really poorly...

About 1/2 way through. A weekend to forget for both Wisconsin and Caufield. The Badgers are missing at least five regular forwards: Holloway (Team Canada camp), one guy with a concussion, and three others due to COVID protocols. Their goaltending sucks. They only dressed 9 forwards and it showed. In situations like this, you hope that at least your guy looks good and drives the play, even if he is with less talented linemates. Need to bring your game up Cole. You came off a great week (top player in the conference) followed with a stinker week.

Farrell from Saturday night. Either a brilliant spinorama no-look pass or a missed shot that worked out well.

So much for..."i wonder if he worked out and gotten stronger on his skates". Colour me unimpressed. On my car memory card i have an album called..."One Hit Wonders". I'm getting closer and closer to creating a new album called...."One Trick Pony". Caufield is one of the hits......

I'm not much of a soccer player and i have only one memory of it when i was a teen.
It was an organised indoor game between high schools. I played right side forward. On one play, i was coming down fast on the right side....looked up...saw a gap and thought...if i bend the ball hard i can hit the right side top corner. I did. Beautiful goal. Amazing goal. But it was all luck and a tea spoon of skill.
Spin-O-Rama was that kind of play.
It happens...

I sure hope he shows well. I've always liked his transition game and his low panic threshhold, but something always seems to get in the way.

A superb night for the Wisconsin duo. With a goal and two assists each, they were in on all of the Badgers goals in a 3-1 win. What is going on with Gorniak? He is having a career year.

Farrell with a nice one timer PP goal. He also had two helpers for a three point night.

Farrell with a nice one timer PP goal. He also had two helpers for a three point night. So here's my question, NWT. Farrell is averaging 2 points per game, which is incredible. Sixteen points in 8 games for a team that is in the top 3 in their league, yet he is -3. He's also not very big at 5' 9" 175 lbs. Is he a real prospect? He lasted till the 4th round at pick 124, which isn't usually a good indicator, but then Gallagher was a 147th pick. Nice release on his goal, and top shelf. What's the downside on him? It's pretty tough to ignore 2 points per game, unless it's the Gretzky/Blair McDonald syndrome and Farrell is McDonald.

Seventeen, I was waiting for this question. IMO, he is a legitimate prospect for sure. His big knock is his size and strength. It also impacts how effective he is in his own end (thus some of the plus/minus concerns). I really feel that he fell too far though due to his size, as he brings other projectable attributes to the table. He is quick and thinks the game fast. He can even improve his speed as he gains strength and improves some technical skating issues. He has great vision, as evidenced by leading the USHL in assists last year. He drives the play. He even did this last year with super talented sniper Brisson on his line when they played together. Playing with Brisson also meant that Farrell was essentially a playmaker first. Some figured that lead to him being a one dimensional offensive threat. That is easier to defend against at higher levels. He is getting to shoot more this year without his trigger man Brisson, so he is showing he can score too and has a decent arsenal of shots.
A lot of his scouting prior to this last year was with the national development team, both the U17 and U18 groups. So, as the late birthday, he was playing with that Uber talented 2019 draft class such as Hughes, Caufield, Turcotte, Zegras, Boldy, etc. That meant he was a depth player in the lineup, without the same premium ice time his older brethren were getting. Last year he was with Chicago in the USHL. A totally dominant team. The question was how much of his surge in production come from playing with highly touted players like Brisson, etc.
He is doing really well with another strong Steel team this season as his NCAA team Harvard cancelled their season. A lot of top prospects leave the USHL to join their NCAA teams once they are drafted. This year is a tad different as some guys are staying behind in junior hockey.
So with all that...I think he is definitely a legit prospect and was a great pick with the last pick in the fourth round. He does need to get stronger, that is no doubt, but the skill is there.

Stapley gets the secondary assist on Savoie’s GWG in OT. The former Sherwood Park Crusader (AJHL) is off to quite a start. A goal in each of his first four games as a freshman. A DU first.

Team Canada has 9 more cuts to make to get to their final roster. Guhle has been playing alongside Barron on a top pairing in the red-white scrimmages. Last one is today. Hope the kid makes the team. Bob McKenzie though he would in his preview show this week.
