I had to put a big system at work and as usual, did a lot of research. Finally setyled on Hikvision camera and nvr.
Simply AMAZING.
The cameras will give you full colour at moonlight. It actually looks like an overcast day....where there is barely enough light to see 5 feet and not trip. In the plant, i spread about 10 night lights with .65 watt led bulbs. Note....point six five watts. The place looks like i have all the lights blazing.
I can't say enough good things about the system.
If you are thinking of installing a pro level system, send me a pm. I will try and probably get you installer prices on the components. This isn't COSTCO stuff. Eight cameras and the nvr will set you back a couple of grand...but then you are getting the absolute latest and greatest tech in colour night vision cameras. I installed 16 of them and lots of work...but the results are amazing.
I also discovered that it's a zoo around the building. Aside from every small animal....there was two cayotes who hunted down a rabbit.....and ate it in full view...and in colour.
I'll post links later...

We're seriously looking at a system for the front and back of the house now ... never thought it would be necessary, to be honest ... we're still in a quiet suburb of the city, but we have one major problem in the neighbourhood, which has led to a few of our friends installing home security systems just to keep an eye on what this problem is doing ... I'm only trying to find price ranges right now, but I've looked up the Hikvision 4CH NVR, and it looks like a good system ... will only need 2 maybe 3 cameras and that would be about it ... I have a buddy who's using a "Nest" security system, and it's pretty basic ... still looking around, though ...
Cheers.

Dis,
My source is in GTA and the cameras will be $175 each plus about $250 for an 8 channel NVR.
You can buy cheaper but we're talking the latest and greatest pro level stuff that is simply jaw dropping.
If you got street lighting, thats all you need to get colour daylight. If the back has any source of light, fine, but if not, a night light is enough for "daylight" colour.
I can send you some pictures by email.
Keep in mind you have to Cat5 them together. So you either have the buy a box of wire and make your own or pre-measure the legnths. Cable is not expensive so just overestimate what you need.
It also needs a moderate level of technical ability to set up the NVR. No problem, you got me.
Unfortunatly you are too far away for hands on support.
After all is said and done, you can moniter your home from anywhere on the planet.
If i post a thread, it means it's exceptional and in this case, downright jaw dropping...

Thanks, HA ... sure, send away, no worries ... the email address in my profile works ... I used to make CAT 5 cables, but it's been a while ... thanks again, HA, that's very generous ...
Cheers.

Dis, Ummm....maybe this is a better solution for you. My "solution" may be the latest and the greatest, but it's also very expensive. wyze.com/wyze-cam-v3.htmlWatch the video.

For the last three nights, I have a pretty large cayote "patrolling" my property. I was in the building when i got a notification from my cameras. I was inside and just outside the door, there was my little buddy. The camera showed that he looked back at the door and it could hear me, but obviously I couldn't hear him/her. When I installed the cameras, I didn't think I was going to have a front line seat to Urban Jungle. I just hope they don't think of me as a chewy big meal.....LOL This is about 2 in the morning with only moonlight. They think they got darkness on their side...I have technology! ibb.co/Qcsh6h0

Somebody needs to explain to me about human nature...
I seperated the property line with 2.5x2.5x2.5 foot concrete blocks that weigh about 1500 pounds.
Yesterday, the cameras cought a brilliant driver stopping on the side of one....and then ramming it with his pickup truck. No accident...just deliberate brilliance.
The next camera picks up that truck with fender and bumper damage.
Try as i might, i can not get into the mental processing of battering a piece of concrete with a pickup truck....and incurring a few thousand in damages.
Can anyone explain it?

The first thing that comes to mind is alcohol. And maybe he believes those ads about how tough his truck is.

The first thing that comes to mind is alcohol. And maybe he believes those ads about how tough his truck is. Nahhh...just another ahole employee who doesn't care. I know the company he works for. Probably get him fired but why should I bother. Here is the first contact, driving it into his bumper...and it gets worse. He actually rammed the concrete and climbed it. The end was a hole in the bumper, a dent in the fender and who knows what happened to the suspension. The concrete expressed it's hurt feeling when I reset it.... BTW...I always keep a record of every event. Next thing I know, I get an insurance claim that the concrete jumped in front of him. I wish that happed, I would sue the living f out of them and the insurance company. The video shows everything in 4k resolution Attachments:

Insurance fraud, trying to piss off the owner (who is a close relative, so you have keys or access to them) - or covering up another incident. If you just got Lady Di killed and everyone is looking for a bumper with a slight streak of a specific color paint, what do you do ? You run into something big that will cause far more damage than what people are looking for.

He stopped in 10 feet in front of the block, looked at it for a few seconds and then accelerated HARD. It wasn't a push through. The pictures are frame by frame clear shots. In the posted one, the block has already heavily deformed the steel bumper. That's how hard he accelerated into it.
Most likely insurance fraud or deliberatly sabotaging the company.
It's was a company vehicle that just made a delivery to my neighbor. I know the company well but if i phone the owner and the guy gets fired, what are the odds he will damage my property? If he's crazy enough to hurt the feelings of a concrete block?
He probably has no idea that he was getting his cray-cray acting debute in 4k.
This deserves ytube exposure. But it shows his face, plate numbers and company name. Next thing i know I'm mud wrestling with human garbage.
