From 1966 and 1967. Never knew this was a thing. Alas, Father Christmas was not kind in 1966. the following year they were rewarded though I don't catch the joke of the 1967 card, perhaps some context missing. Apologies for the poor resolution.

1967 the Leafs won the cup so Santa had to take it away that year. Basically the 1967 is telling Montreal they need to win it in the spring of 1968.

Cool! Thanks for sharing those, HABsurd.
Mystery, trivia, poser.... In the Christmas 1967 card, Santa is taking the following spring's Cup back to the Forum, as per the wish of the press.
Why is that Cup tagged with a large "7"?
My Columbo so far....
Blake had already won 7 Cups as head coach. 56, 57, 58, 59, 60, 65, 66. Nope.
Howie Morenz's #7 was retired in 1937, and he was enshrined in the Hall of Fame when it opened in 1945. Nope.
Any guesses as to the Significant 7?

Was there a train run called #7 back in the day that went to Toronto?

Could be the train, Tank....but I'd bet on something more hockey-obvious at that time...as the cartoonist made it a prominent feature.
The spare-time sleuthing continues....
EDIT:
Spent way more than 7 minutes on this....can't find any historical significance of a "7" for that era....so, I'd say it's a stylized "1" representing the #1 item on Santa's wish list.
